Speaking of Euless Trinity

Post by JDoub » Wed Feb 13, 2013 5:10 pm

So at last count I think the Bobcats have 4 players from Trinity HS in Euless, TX (DM, Trey, Na'a, Barnett)

Being here in SLC, I see the Utes signed 3 guys this year from Trinity, bringing their total to 4. All big, -- no, huge Polys

Sam Tevi, DE - 6-5 - 288 - Fr. - HS - Euless, Texas (Trinity HS)
Keio (Gaius) Vaenuku, DT - 6-5 - 278 - Fr. - HS - Euless, Texas (Trinity HS)
Salesi Uhatafe, OT - 6-4 - 319 - Fr. - HS - Euless, Texas (Trinity HS)

Maybe we should set up a spring scrimmage with Trinity High School

They had 13 football players sign LOI's this year -- football factory.

Why don't we just go to Washingon and recruit the Bellevue High Wolverines? They opened the season beating Trinity. In the past few years Bellevue ended De La Salles (Concord, CA) remarkable winning streak of something like 140 straight, The following season they beat Long Beach Poly, one of California's toughest programs. A couple of seasons ago they went to Texas and played one of the "friday night lights" schools and were worn down in a loss. Then the victory over Euless.
I don't know why we don't spend more time in Washington. It's now the 14th largest state, nearly 7 million people, more populace than Massachuetts. Eastern WA is built on WA high graduates.

You used to have all of Montana "locked up," but that seems to have done a 180 so if we wanted to go into Bellevue we probably could.

So that's why they call it Washington Grizzly stadium.

First reason John Kanongata'a. Second reason, just like UM doesn't go to Washington just to recruit Bellevue, MSU doesn't go to Texas just to recruit Trinity. There are probably as many FCS quality football players in the Dallas/FW area as there are in the entire states of Washington and Oregon combined. Same for Houston area, LA area and Bay area. There are probably 15-20 high schools in Texas as good as Bellevue. Another reason, is that kids in Texas aren't going to affected by the difference between the travel from Texas to Bozeman vs. Texas to Missoula as much as the kids from Seattle are going to be affected by the distance from Seattle to Missoula vs. Seattle to Bozeman. To a lesser extent there's also EWU on the way to Bozeman. It's changing, but our coaches probably don't mind losing players they've spent a lot of timing recruiting to Sam Houston as much as they do to UM and EWU or even PSU.
