D.J. Martin to EWU
Something about this doesn't smell quite right. How does a guy that supposedly have offers from Alabama, Tennessee, and UCLA commit to Cal and then decommit to attend EWU?
Kid is a big time RB.

Gee, it must've been that sweet red turf and the new stadium plans that sealed the deal.
Honestly, is it really a mystery why EWU is able to stockpile these types of players? What did Tyjuan major in, again? Running fast?

Re: D.J. Martin to EWU
Ain't that the truth. At least this guy appears to truly be a solid FBS player comign to FCS... unlike a bunch of the marginal WALK-ONS that are going to UM and the fans are getting all gushy over... as usual.GavinDonos wrote:Gee, it must've been that sweet red turf and the new stadium plans that sealed the deal.

Re: D.J. Martin to EWU
Oh c'mon guys. I'm sure he chose Eastern because they were far and away the better academic institution out of all the other choices. I mean who wants to go to Alabama and win a national championship, or who would want to go to Cal or UCLA where they can get a great education and play football.
I mean Eastern looks like the clear cut obvious choice to me.

I needed a change for one, but for two, I HAD to go to Coach Haucks rival school.

While I would love to get a kid that had those types of offers I would be suspicious if we did and be concerned that he would not last long. We have got a few kids that had offers from the likes of UNLV, Colorado State, etc. but never an Alabama or Tennessee that I can remember.

It's a SMU Pony Express reference. Eric Dickerson suddenly changed his commit to SMU and he and his gerry curls were soon seen driving a new gold Trans Am. But since this is EWU we're talking about you're probably right.AlphaGriz1 wrote:Is that the Trans Am that Screaming Bagel blows people in? Re: D.J. Martin to EWU
So I'm reading over on the EWU forum that some of them think he might be a "prop". I'm not sure what that means, apparently it has something to do with being an academic risk? That is a real question, I do not know.

I googled his name yesterday and found something on a Cal website that said he is a non-qualifier. Like you, I don't know what that entails...Rich K wrote:So I'm reading over on the EWU forum that some of them think he might be a "prop". Basically, something from HS, whether it be grades, SAT/ACT score, credits, ect. didn't allow him to enroll at the bigger schools. EWU is well know to accept these "non-qualifier" kids; Rodney Stucky was one, as was Taiwan Jones, if i'm not mistaken.
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

His decision was obviously swayed by the Welcome to Cheney video.

Eastern is a terrible school. They somehow got Colin Cowherd on the air...Rich K wrote:Thanks. Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Sure I read it! EWU gave me two 300 Level Literature credits for it. Extra credit if I mention it on an "outside" forum.AlphaGriz1 wrote:Wait a second......did somebody say they were reading the EWU website?

Having covered another Washington state funded public institution for two years — Central Washington in Ellensburg — I can tell you this: UDub and Wazzu have tough academic standards. Eastern Washington and Central Washington don't have nearly the standards.Rich K wrote:Thanks. I know at Central — and I'm sure it's the same at Eastern — that the acceptance standards are less than stringent. Central got massive fee waivers for boosting the minority population.
