Pair of Eagles Leave Eastern Program Early
Wide receiver Brandon Kaufman signs with an agent and quarterback Kyle Padron not enrolled for winter quarter classes
A pair of Eastern Washington University football players with eligibility remaining have decided not to return to EWU for their senior seasons in 2013, Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin has confirmed.
Two-time All-America wide receiver Brandon Kaufman signed with an agent on Sunday (Jan. 6) and will pursue opportunities to play professional football. Baldwin also said quarterback Kyle Padron, who transferred to EWU last fall from Southern Methodist University, is not enrolled for winter quarter and presumably will pursue his own opportunities at the professional level.

Re: EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
The Eagles will definitely have a hole in their lineup without Kauffman, but I'm pretty sure they are all-in with Adams and Padron was the odd man out anyway.

Edwards, Herd, Minnerly, Post, and a couple of good Defensive players out of the secondary all graduated. EWU doesn't lose a lot but what they do lose are very good players.webdav wrote:The Eagles will definitely have a hole in their lineup without Kauffman, but I'm pretty sure they are all-in with Adams and Padron was the odd man out anyway.

Re: EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
I posted this in another thread, but it fits in here, too. Basically said that Adams without Herd, Edwards and Kauf could be like Jeff George or Randall Cunningham without Moss, Carter and Reed. Maybe EWU has another batch of WRs in reserve (they always seem to), but if not it could be tough sledding in 2013.cats2506 wrote:Edwards, Herd, Minnerly, Post, and a couple of good Defensive players out of the secondary all graduated. They lost Washburn, Minnerly, Johnson, Ceja and Ena on defense. Also lose their kicker Pavel.

They also lost Will Post, probably the best O lineman in the BSC last year[cat_bracket] wrote:I posted this in another thread, but it fits in here, too. EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
That's what I was thinking too, as well as What in God's green Earth was the HC of SMU thinking when he put Padron ahead of BLM? Really makes you wonder.AlphaGriz1 wrote:Padron isnt better than any QB we have...............thats laughable hes declaring

Re: EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
I wasnt aware that Kauffman was that highly regarded, that he could leave early. Honestly, I didnt know he was getting NFL looks at all. Does anyone know where he is being projected in the draft?

Uh ya... he's that good. My guess would be that he'd go in the 2nd or 3rd round.ameriCATS wrote:I wasnt aware that Kauffman was that highly regarded, that he could leave early. Honestly, I didnt know he was getting NFL looks at all. Does anyone know where he is being projected in the draft?

Re: EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
yep the dude is a stud and i won't miss him. he's damn fast for such a big guy. and most importantly...he catches everything! i know my vikes could use a big receiver who can actually catch.
seriously though...i wish the guy all the best. pretty damn sweet to have a guy good enough to leave the big sky early to pursue his football dreams.

Re: EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
He's currently projected to be the 20th best WR in the draft. That would typically put him in the fourth round.ameriCATS wrote:I wasnt aware that Kauffman was that highly regarded, that he could leave early. Re: EWU Kauffman declares for the draft
Kaufman has good size, but it he puts up a 4.6 at the Combine, he probably won't be drafted.

No. I don't care one way or the other. At his size, he'll need a solid 40 time, though.bobcat99 wrote:Like to put a bet on it?PapaG wrote:Kaufman has good size, but it he puts up a 4.6 at the Combine, he probably won't be drafted.
