Historical Cat-Griz stuff

Post by TomCat88 » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:19 pm

(This by no means is a slam against UM, because it is remarkable that any of things have taken so long or are so few.)

MSU has ended quite a few streaks by UM the last two times it played in WGS. That's partly due to being UM's last opponent, but MSU had to win those games for the following to occur:
2012
UM's first season at .500 or lower in WGS. The previous low was .600 (3-2) in 1987.
First season under .500 overall or in conference since 1985.
2010
First time UM out of the playoffs since 1992.
First time UM has no share of BSC title since 1997.

UM has only scored 7 points or less in four games at WGS. Two of those came at the hands of MSU. The lowest was 3 points against PSU in 1987. SDSU held them to 7 in 2005, but lost 7-0.

UM has only lost 8 regular season games at WGS since 2002, but 3 of those are to MSU.
MSU is the only team to win more than one game at WGS since 1997 and is the only team with more than two wins at WGS since 1992.

In the last 11 years MSU has the best record of any conference team against UM.
MSU 5-6
EWU 4-7

Most wins at WGS:
EWU - 4
MSU - 3
Idaho - 3 (one as a FBS member)
So. Utah - 2

MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Pretty impressive stuff. Shouldn't this be on the Bobcat Football Board, it would get lots more comments if it was.

Corrections if I remember right...they were not in the playoffs in 2010 nor did they win a share of the BSC title that same year.

That's why it's under the header 2010.

Team10: I just want you to know that I would've let you down a lot more gently than LTCF. I skim over stuff a little too fast sometimes, too. :) If someone pointed all my typos and left out words, etc. it would be a full time job.

But thanks for having my back LTCF.
