That looks like one of those hoax videos. I know it's real, but the speed of that ball just looks unnatural. I wonder how accurate he is? He certainly has a huge leg.

That guy was an EWU recruit?! Wow, when I saw it on ESPN that was certainly one of the last places I imagined the guy playing, lol.

He's hit about 50% of his kicks if I remember right.Bay Area Cat wrote:That looks like one of those hoax videos. I know it's real, but the speed of that ball just looks unnatural. I wonder how accurate he is? He certainly has a huge leg.

So I guess that would explain why he didn't get any major school offers. But he has the potential to be a weapon from almost anywhere in the opponents end of the field!bobcat99 wrote:He's hit about 50% of his kicks if I remember right.Bay Area Cat wrote:That looks like one of those hoax videos. Re: EWU recruit kicks 67 yarder
If he was given an opportunity for a 67 yarder, I bet he missed more than a few that were a lot longer than most any high school kicker is even allowed to kick. How many field goals were attempted in situations that most high school teams would have punted or attempted to get the first down?Bay Area Cat wrote:So I guess that would explain why he didn't get any major school offers. EWU recruit kicks 67 yarder
Off a tee with a low trajectory 67 yards is not that unreasonable. Did he use a tee is the question?

I don't know what you mean by "not that unreasonable" but come on I don't care what you are kicking off of; a 67 yard field goal is impressive to say the least.MSUcantouchus wrote:Off a tee with a low trajectory 67 yards is not that unreasonable. Did he use a tee is the question?

Seriously how many 67 yarders have you heard of this year or in your life time, ever see one in person? The fact that his coach even gave him the chance is the exception not the norm.
The fact that he made it from there is the exception not the norm. It all adds up to that being an exceptional kick. Give the kid his due applause.

And that definitely did not have a low trajectory. Impressive leg - even if his accuracy needs improvement, he'll have work as a kickoff specialist.
GO CATS!

This could be due to a strong possibility that he isn't very smart academicallyCPrice91 wrote:That guy was an EWU recruit?! Wow, when I saw it on ESPN that was certainly one of the last places I imagined the guy playing, lol.

I could be wrong but I believe EWU offered a partial but he hasn't committed.

I had originally posted this thread under the high school forum (which apparently few people readbobcatfan15 wrote:This could be due to a strong possibility that he isn't very smart academicallyCPrice91 wrote:That guy was an EWU recruit?! I remember years ago people were saying that EWU gets a lot of their recruits that way because they aren't able to get into UW or WSU so they go to EWU because of academic reasons.

if it's not that unreasonable, then don't you think that 50-60 yd fieldgoals would be the norm in high school? This was the 3rd longest recorded FG in high school history.MSUcantouchus wrote:Off a tee with a low trajectory 67 yards is not that unreasonable. Did he use a tee is the question?

I've seen kickoffs go through the uprights. And of course it would have a low trajectory otherwise how else could it go that far. Not going to get a rainbow style kick to go that far.

Austin's pct. isn't quite where it was last season. Having said that he is also playing on both sides of the ball this year (wr/db) which he didn't do last year. Great kid and also an outstanding basketball player. The recruitment has picked up considerably as you could imagine. He got to see my MSU flag everyday when he walked into class so he knows all about the Cats! It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
The Eastern punter is also a former kicker from Central Valley. Guess I better get started on the next kicker and point him in the right direction for his college choice!

I've seen kickoffs sail through the uprights too. Helena High's kicker has done it a couple of times this season. Different tees, different outcomes. I guess we shouldn't be impressed anytime a kicker kicks anything short of a 70-yarder.MSUcantouchus wrote:I've seen kickoffs go through the uprights. You realize the difference between a kickoff with nobody running towards you, and a fieldgoal with everybody running towards you...right?

I would say in high school not every team gets a good push and especially not every time. There would be times where a low kick could make it over the line.
