Albany has a strong football tradition, and SB is really strong right now. NEC is a better fit for Rhode Island anyhow. Good moves all the way around (besides the Georgia State and ODU moveups - why would anyone want to move up to F(BS) right now?)

Isn't that sort of a step down though? The CAA is clearly much stronger than the NEC. I know they haven't been very competitive in recent years, but I guess that move still surprises me, especially since all the other "flagship" state schools in New England are in the CAA. And I didn't realize that Stoney Brook was previously in the Big South. Aren't they in New York state? But then I guess geography has vey little to do with conference affiliations in the current era of college football.
