I hear Gerald Kemp has been reinstated at UM just in time for fall camp. Big surprise, I know.

He's probably a good guy, but just gets himself into some stupid situations. I think he was busted for peeing on the street, then the whole tazer thing, now this. He could be a big weapon for them this year and they look a little thin at WR, but who knows if that really played into their thinking.

It does look funny you have to admit. "You're outta here ya little smart ass." (Looks at depth chart) "I mean you're suspended you little smart ass." (Looks at depth chart again) "OK get back out there, but next time..."

No doubt! I'm sure they'll make him sit out for a quarter sometime this season... Probably during a blowout game if they have any. =D^

No. I was told over the phone by someone usually reliable. Is this not correct?

Nah, I was trying to be humorous, being that the team rule that Kemp supposedly violated was that he tweated something, was it not?

Riddle me this batman. If cats2506 gets suspended from that other website over this, will his penalty for joking about Kemp's suspension be more severe, or less severe than Kemp's actual disciplinary action?

Yeah that place is a joke, so many posters with their heads in the sand............its simply embarrassing.

I have never been a supporter of Kemp playing QB but I want him to start this year so I can tell those idiots how wrong they were about his passing ability. Why he is even on the team anymore says all that needs to be said about what they learned from this crime spree that ODay and Hauck spawned a decade ago.

As a Bobcat fan I sincerely hope that Kemp is the starting QB for the Griz this year.

For those of you who are criticizing UM's coaches for this -- if it's true that Kemp's "rules violation" was violating the "no Twitter" rule, what do you think the punishment should have been?

My understanding is that he was indefinitely suspended, and was reinstated after he agreed to follow the rule. If he had not so agreed, then presumably he would not have been allowed back on the team. Personally, I don't think that's a bad result, but you guys seem to think differently...so how do you think it should have been handled?

Eletroshock therapy? :-k This is just team rules stuff, all of his punishment should be from the coaching staff, nothing public. The tazing deal was different and was a complete failure by the university.

there was no punishment for his actions, really, was there?

personally, i think what is perplexing to outsiders is the way it was handled: off the team one day, suspended but can come back the next day, back on the team right after the JJ announcement. i don't know as if the blame is on GK as much as how fishy this incident was handled. but then again, i'm just a casual observer with no insight into the situation.

also - it hardly matters. i hope the kid gets his stuff together and has a good year and gets his degree...

i'm confused by all of this. i thought the twitter "rule" was put in place by senior leaders and not even a real rule. did coach d back that up and make it an actual rule? my understanding was his indefinite suspension stemmed from some hard feelings and perhaps even some choice words with staff in regards to his role on the team?

either way, i don't see how either should be a big deal. they both seem pretty harmless to me and i don't ever recall an official statement saying he was kicked of the team and then just suspended. remember....just because you read it here or on egriz does not make it fact. my guess is he had a bad attitude, and coach basically told him to take some time, decide if he wanted to be part of the team, and to come back when his attitude changed. ho hum in my opinion unless i'm completely missing the boat on what happened.

either way it's no big deal. the guy might be the most over-hyped player the bsc has seen in some time. maybe ever.

Well, he was publicly suspended from the team. For the rest of his life, every time someone googles his name (prospective employers, etc.), they're going to see that he was (albeit temporarily) kicked off of UM's football team for violating team rules. Don't you think it's possible that that could have consequences for him at some point?

Just because he didn't miss practices or games doesn't mean he wasn't "punished."

I don't have any insight into the situation either, but I suspect the fault lies with UM's administration (and the way this was communicated to the media), and not with Kemp or the coaches.

The thing that gets me about this board, though, is that some posters here seem to think that Kemp's reinstatement to the team somehow proves that we're back to "business as usual" at UM. Personally, I think the opposite is true. If Kemp had continued to refuse to obey the "no Twitter" rule (a much more innocuous violation that those which have been committed by players in the past), the coaches were apparently willing to permanently kick him off the team. I think that indicates that this coaching staff is going to run a much tighter ship than has been run in the past. We'll see, though.
