not the same in my mind. He was pro, earning a living. This other kid just wants to finish his senior year.

Dont get my wrong, kudos to him for going for it, for doing what is important and right to him. just wouldnt be my choice.

it is the same in that they love the game enough to decide that playing is more important than not (for them)

A senior amputating his finger with just a few games left in his career. He plays for a Division II school and has no chance at pro ball. I really don't think that I can understand his decision and think it would be interesting to talk to him in 10, 20, and 30 years and see how his perspective on his decision does or doesn't change.

Yeah, but it will be a pretty cool bar story. "Yeah, I'm so friggin' tough, I cut my own finger off just to play ball."

I know two guys without their pinkie finger. One is an excellent cabinet, door, furniture maker. The other is a very good mechanic. Think about it, what could you not accomplish, day to day, without a pinkie.

i agree. it's not like the guy off his leg! people can call him stupid all they want. why? because he was playing d-2? because his playing career is almost over? if a player did this on the cats everyone on this board would be saying what a bad ass he his and be wanting to retire his jersey! think about something that you are truly passionate about. it has nothing to do with football. it has to do with a person wanting to continue his dream. i would think if some of you had a choice between hunting, and losing a finger, you'd lose a finger. golf, or a pinkie...seeya pinkie. skiing or snowboarding, or losing your baby toe...i know someone personally who would cut the toe off himself! oce again some select members of this amazing site feel like they have the right to judge another persons decisions. is this a gift one gets from posting on this site? i hope so as one day i'd like to be as perfect and all knowing as some of our posters.

Wearin' my friggin' awesome pinkie ring? Fuggaduboudit!

I would also be unable to effectively emphasize how badly I want to kill Austin Powers or my ransom demands for ONE MIIIIIIIIIIIIILION DOLLARS.

I met him at a golf tournament ... strange when I realized he was the guy who did that. Doesn't help the golf swing.

This guy is going to parlay this into so much tail, that it is going to be worth it. All he needs is a wing man to say to a girl, "have you met the toughest guy in the world?"
