Post by kstack » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:21 am

This guy evidently can't learn from his past mistakes

It's time for HIM to pay and not the programs. Sad, really.

Well....let's be careful. Didn't Brad Huse coach and/or play under Sampson when he was at Tech??

I think Sampson was gone by the time Huse played there. 90% sure anyway.

He needs to be fired and put on suspension for a couple of years. What a tool.

I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.

I just went in and looked at Huse's bio on the MSU website:
"Just as important as the lessons learned at the end of the bench, Huse built a strong foundation during his time a couple of seats over. His coaching tutelage began as a cager at Montana Tech, first for current Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson, and later for Rick Dessing, who would put together a highly successful coaching career in the Frontier Conference. Huse was a three-time All-Frontier Conference honoree at Tech, earning NAIA All-America honors as a senior. "

 I meant I'm 90% sure he didn't graduate under Sampson.

rick dessing is a hell of a coach. he's an assistant for lewis clark state now and i really hope he gets an opportunity to coach again. the way they got rid of him at tech was a little fishy to me.

do you have to know everything to post here? or just think you do?

Didn't the players basically walk out on him?

I think they had 4 or 5 guys quit the team because they disliked him so strongly.

ya, that's pretty much the story i heard. i just thought it was odd because for as long as i have heard stories about him, it seemed like his biggest fault as a coach was that he was to much like a buddy to his players, and maybe not as much of a hard-ass coach. but it worked for him for what 17 years? either way, i don't think we've seen the last of him.

ironically they walked on him because he was being to hard on them

CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT **********

Former Indiana coach Bobby Knight "retires" several days before current Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson gets in trouble....again.
Could Indiana be looking to replace a current coach with a former coach anytime soon?
hmmmmmmmmmmm

I told ya....conspiracy. lol

Fox Sports is reporting that Sampson has been fired...nothing from other sports sites or an official word yet from Indiana.

From the Bloomington, IN newspaper:

Fox Sports: Sampson fired
• By Doug | Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 2:54 pm | 22 Comments »

IU spokesman Larry MacIntyre said at 3:30 that reports that Sampson has been fired or has resigned are incorrect. He said both are possible scenarios for what will happen, but neither has happened at this point.

MacIntyre also said that IU has not scheduled a press conference for Friday afternoon. He said that staff is making preparations in case a press conference is held because it is a possibility, but no decision to have a press conference has been made.

——————

UPDATE: IU trustee Pat Shoulders just told me that he’s aware of the Fox Sports Report, but he would put his hand on a Bible and swear that he doesn’t know anything about Sampson having been fired. Shoulders said he talked with university president Michael McRobbie at 11 a.m. today about a different matter and at that point there was no news on Sampson.

—————

FOX SAYS SAMPSON’S GONE: In the midst of IU sources saying no decision has been made yet on Kelvin Sampson, Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports is reporting that Sampson has been fired. Click here to read this story.

From what we can tell, players have not been notified of any news regarding Sampson. Eric Gordon’s father just said he hasn’t heard anything.

Still up in the air as to whether he's fired or suspended, but the latest reports are that at a minimum he is done coaching for the rest of this season.

Why would any recruits (or their parents) trust Sampson though? Isn't that the greatest risk in Indiana (or any future school) keeping him around? The guy is a proven cheater, lier and general slimeball.

Looks like Sampson is 'stepping down' with a $750,000 buyout- what a crock!!
