Are they playing 11 or 12 games? They could have one more game this year.

Officially 6 DI wins, but in reality at least 7. This year FCS teams are allowed 12 games (not mandatory) so it could easily take 8 DI wins to make the playoffs.

The guidelines for the committee say that they are to give preference to teams with 7 or more DI wins. MSU a few years ago was one of only two teams not to win a conference who advanced to the playoffs with 6. We'll see if that changes with the additional game. As GK said, you better plan on 8 DI wins if you want a legitimate shot.

MSU was 7-3 against D-I teams in '06...the 4th loss was to D-II Chadron State.

EWU should be tough this year with the talent they have, but w/ that OOC schedule they could easily be 1-2 (the Western game not counting as a DI win).

With a new coaching staff I doubt if they're going to go 8-0 conference, so it doesn't look good for them to make the playoffs since a lot of teams will be playing a 12 game schedule.

MSU had 7 DI wins when they went to the playoffs in 2006.

Sorry. Of course you did. I was thinking about the 4-loss criteria, which -- while not official -- is often used as the watermark.
