Billings Central Catholic's 6-foot-4, 285-pound OG Casey McMillan has commited to U. of Iowa. He visited there this weekend.

I wish him the best of luck. Iowa turns out great lineman. At least he is not going to play for the Griz. They have enough 6'6" 330 lb O-linemen coming in with the recruiting class that they are putting together.

I can't say I blame him but I wish he would have been a bobcat.

It will be cool in 3-4 years to see him get on the field.

I hope it goes well for him. It is always nice to see a montana kid do well at a big school. Ferentz usually has one of the best lines in the big ten every year. It just takes so long for these kids to find the field and any injury at all gets them buried on the depth chart.

I agree.


He is a super nice kid only met him once but he made a good first impression. I was impressed by his agility for a guy that size. I wish him well and hope he dominates the Big Ten.

This thread reminded me of some of the big-time recruits that have come out of Montana high schools in recent years, who went on to play for I-A programs, and then seemingly many of them are never heard from again.

There are two that came immediately to mind....the Anderson kid (Mark?) from Lewistown, who was something like 6-7/265 and went to Stanford....projected that he could play OL, DL or maybe tight end, but would be great at any of those positions.

The other one that popped into my head was the Sundberg kid from Columbus....huge QB with a cannon for an arm....6-5 or 6-6 and maybe 220-225 coming out of high school. I don't remember where he went, but I do recall that he was also considered to be a real blue chip recruit. Does anyone know what ever became of either one of these guys?

If so, it doesn't look like he got any real time at QB, and hasn't had a huge amount of success at TE yet. Looking at last year's stats, maybe he got hurt in the first game?

Anderson got hurt at Stanford before he got a chance to do anything.

Chris Sundberg was the class of '04. He was a junior last year for Wyoming and has barely gotten any playing time. He is listed, and plays TE for UW.

Sorry to hear about Anderson getting hurt. I actually know his half-brother Eriek....in fact, we used to work together, but I haven't talked to him in years. In fact, now that I think about it, I bet BAC knows Eriek as well, since he is married to a Bergum girl.

For some of these kids, it makes you wonder if they wouldn't have been better off going to UM or MSU and being a star....or at least a starter, rather than riding the pine at a I-A school?

I also know Bonnie's brother, Greg....both of them are really very nice people. I haven't talked to Greg in years either....do you know if he is still in Billings?

Yeah, I believe they are. One of the women who helped me with my book signing in Billings said she knows them well, so I assume that meant they were still there. I haven't seen them in a few years, but will most likely see them in Winifred this summer at the big school reuinion.
