Percy Harvin Next heisman?
I was doin some research, and this kid has incredible numbers, his 40 time is .01 off deon sanders and .01 faster than randy moss'. his 4.24 40 yard dash is amazing. and all the highlight clips i see of him hes a fast lil guy hittin the hole and never stops his feet.
any thoughts?

but unlike bush harvins 40 time is outstanding, and do you see this kid make plays, and his moves? watch that video, you will learn a lot. i believe you over look him.kstack wrote:There is no way Harvin will win the Heisman, not so long as Tebow is there. Bush won it with Leinart, but he was touching the ball 20-plus times per game.
I think Tebow, Lockler, Chris Wells are the early favorites. Watch out for Joe McKnight at Southern Cal.

I've seen the guy play, including the Capital One bowl game, but I don't understand why his 40 time matters. Lots of guys have blazing times. Jason Hill was a WR at Washington State a couple years ago and he ran a 4.37 at the Combine, but he was never a Heisman candidate.futurebobcat wrote:but unlike bush harvins 40 time is outstanding, and do you see this kid make plays, and his moves? watch that video, you will learn a lot. i believe you over look him.kstack wrote:There is no way Harvin will win the Heisman, not so long as Tebow is there. I just think with Tebow being in that spread offense, he will put up such big numbers that some voters will choose to believe Tebow has a bigger impact on the overall offense, thus taking away votes for Harvin.

lemme tell you something,
Deon sanders..... 4.23
Percy Harvin...... 4.24
Randy Moss....... 4.25
hes fast as ******, and none of you give him credit... and sam mcguffie is a good hs player, harvins a good college player, im not takin anything away from sam, but he ranks 6th in the nation for hs APR running backs in highschool, percy harvin ranks 1st in recievers in ncaa.... he will be a good player but, im not sure if hes all that is hyped to be. we all know that D1 is a lot bigger than highschool. and none of you guys give the guy who ran 2nd fastest 40 time EVER in NCAA football history any credit...

4.24 is a big step from 4.37, i know its incremental but just like 4.89 is better than a 5.02... and bush is fast, but harvin is faster.Hawks86 wrote:futurebobcat wrote:but unlike bush harvins 40 time is outstanding, and do you see this kid make plays, and his moves? watch that video, you will learn a lot. i believe you over look him.kstack wrote:There is no way Harvin will win the Heisman, not so long as Tebow is there. epi king runs a 4.37 randy moss runs a 4.25... who is faster? there are many people that will claim that he is a a lot faster, but its how scouts look at things. and those small tenths matter a lot in NCAA and nfl.. 4.4 is a norm for like every position in NFL excluding lineman
4.24 is fast

I mean, I understand where you're coming from and you make good points. Perhaps he is underrated at the wide receiver position. He hasn't been mentioned a whole lot nationally.futurebobcat wrote:okaykstack wrote:I've seen the guy play, including the Capital One bowl game, but I don't understand why his 40 time matters. But your argument that his 40 time will play a large part in his Heisman candidacy isn't entirely accurate. Deion and Randy never won a Heisman. Deion finished 8th in the '88 ballot, Moss 4th in the '97 race.
Maybe Harvin will be a legit Heisman candidate next fall, but all I'm saying is that I think Tebow will put up giant numbers again that will take away votes from Harvin.

Raw speed is not an indicator of football talent or future greatness. It's what you do with that speed that matters. Yes, he looks good now, but he has to continue making good decisions and great plays. I'm not going to hand over the Heisman Trophy to somebody just because they run fast. Hell, I posted a 4.4 forty in high school as defensive back and nobody was standing in line to give me any hardware! You want a perfect example of raw speed wasted at the NFL level: Renaldo "Skeets" Nehemiah.

I'm just wondering were the 4.2 came from. Every article, but one, has him in the 4.3 - 4.4 range. So that tells me the one article is wrong.
