Seven home games again, no FCS opponent. I know the Griz make good money with their home games. Surprised to see Cal Poly on the road...

It's actually a pretty darn good schedule. Seven home games isn't a surprise, especially going up to a 12 game schedule. All 3 of their OOC FCS games are against strong opponents (even though SUU went winless this year, I think that brutal schedule is going to pay dividends next year - talk about being battle-hardened!).

Cal Poly is a 5 year agreement with two in CP and three at UM.

Davis is a home and home agreement

SUU I believe was just a 2 year agreement

C.Wash was an adjustment b/c Western States of Colorado wouldn't change their scheduling with us.

Poly and Davis will be great games, both teams return most of their key players on offense. SUU I expect will be improved, but who knows how good considering that they'll also have a new HC. CWU went 10-3 this year with a loss in the D2 quarterfinals. So it's a good OOC, the conference schedule has some challenges too, two road games in a row @ Weber and @ EWU ... ouch

I'm very happy with that schedule. It certainly should alleviate anymore discussion about weak schedules.

I just don't like having to play 3 of the first 4 BSC games on the road. The Big Sky has got to do a better job on their schedules (although at least the Griz don't finish with 3 straight on the road with every team they played having a bye the week before like they did a few years back. That was ridiculous).

I think that's a pretty formidable schedule. Central Washington is no slouch. But don't start with me on having to play 3 of the first 4 BSC games on the road.

Good schedule overall, much more solid than last year's. Cal Poly, UC Davis, and S. Utah should all present a challenge, and I actually think Cal Poly should be favored to win that game.

I'm still skeptical that UM will honor the 5-year contract with Cal Poly. They play the first game in Cali, then the next 3 in Missoula, then (supposedly) the last one in Cali. Given UM's recent history, I would look for them to buy that game out when the time comes. If they don't, then good for them, that is a solid opponent, one that has more than given us fits.

I hate it.

A team should NEVER start opening weekend with a bye. It puts the team a week behind every other team in the nation early in the season, when teams improve the most. Oregon learned the lesson the hard way in 2004, when they lost to Indiana, at home, in their opener.

I'd love to see the record of teams in weeks 2 and 3 that had a bye in week 1.

My understanding on why the bye and opening road game is due to construction, and making sure the stadium upgrades are completed for the home opener.

That actually is a very solid schedule. Any idea when MSU will unveil their 2008 schedule?

What happened to their home and home with Msla Sentinal?

Kidding aside, I think this is definitely respectable. Its not a world beater, but it is a schedule I'd take for MSU. Going to CP is going to be tough. As someone else mentioned, I'd be shocked if UM honors their contract with the 5th year going to CP. That game has buyout and Fort Lewis written all over it.

Looking at things today... Griz are eye-balling an 8-3 season right now (if things go their way). Fall off the horse at Weber or against MSU and its 7-4.

Well, it's a good thing the games aren't played today, then, isn't it?

(every year, the same prediction; every year, the Griz win 10, 11 or 12 games. But keep predicting it. One year you'll get it right, and then all of you can be sooooo proud).

Seeing that the griz are playing 12 games next year, I don't see it being 8-3 or 7-4. :)

I won't be proud but it sure will bring a smile to my face. How are those predictions of going to Chatty every year working out.

I think we should wait until closer to the season when they start looking at this tougher schedule and then end up buying out the Cal Poly game to make it a little easier. Then it could be an 11 game schedule for the Griz or they add another Div II team :)

Overall it isn't too bad (definately a step up from the sandbag year of last year used to help trump up Hauck's resume so he could leave). You would think a team that has so many rumblings from fans about moving up they would actually play a 1-A team once in a while :)

I thought the Griz were already better than 2/3 of the Mtn West Conference and 90% of the WAC... why prove it on the field?

Because they don't need to. The Griz make more money playing at home. Playing a I-A is a no-win situation unless you make oodles of money. And the Griz make larger oodles of money playing at home. And home games also make their fans happy. And they make the community happy. And they make the local businesses happy. Hmmm....maybe there's a theme here that could be used to describe why UM continues to build and build so quickly, and why msu is still stuck in the Quiet Zone.

Apparently the theme this year was schedule so you didn't have to travel for the first 7 weeks. And now you're complaining about having to play 3 of the first 4 BSC games on the road? I don't think you'll get much sympathy here.
