Here is the link to an article about tonight's AZ-ASU game. Interesting reading his comments on an old Cat-Griz game.

But even 40 years later, nothing compares to playing in the Brawl of the Wild: Montana State vs. Montana.

"Probably when I played and brought them back from way, way down," Erickson said of his most memorable rivalry game. "I threw both right- and left-handed. I was hurt, and they carried me off on a stretcher, and I came back. It was unbelievable, and I still couldn't get a date."

Actually, there was a game somewhat like that.

In 1968, the first year of the Brawl at Montana's new Dornblaser Field, the Grizzlies led 24-9 with nine minutes remaining. Montana State senior quarterback Erickson led a three-touchdown comeback, the last with 12 seconds left, for a 29-24 win. It was the sixth straight for the Montana State, and third with Erickson at quarterback.

"You can't teach poise to a boy, but Denny had it," Montana State coach Tom Parac said after the 1968 game.
I love that line. A little self-deprecation after all that braggadocio goes a long way. Actually he's not bragging, that's pretty much how it went down.
