Griz BB
The Griz opened the season tonight putting a pretty sizable beating on Colorado State, 75-39. The Griz only turned it over 6 times on the night.

Don't forget itGrizinWashington wrote:Oh, I forgot. It's only appropriate to post Griz scores in the "College Sports World" when they lose. Then the threads go for 3 pages.![]()
I'm sure you won't care about this either, but Eastern is trailing Washington State by 23 in the 2nd half.
Okay, I now return you to your msu blinders.

Why not, while it may not create the best of relationships between player and coach wouldn't be as simple as the coach never putting him into a game? Or am I missing some other part of the redshirt rule here?mslacat wrote:From what I hear the coaches want him to, but he is resisting. I have had more than one coach tell me that you can not force a kid to redshirt. I don't know if there is paper work to sign but that is what I am told. By the same token you can not force a coach to play a player either. Theoreticaly a coach could ask a player to redshirt, the player could refuse. The coach could then not play the kid the entire year, and then come back to him his second or third year tell the player you might as well apply now for a redshirt now, for your first year, (under the NCAA, hardship rules) to gain an extra year of eligibility, and retroactively get the first year designated as a redshirt. Of course by that time the player may be so pissed off that he is not there and there is still a chance the NCAA might not grant it.
Vanderjact with the Griz refused a redshirt last year for the Griz Tinkle played him in a handful of games and for a handful of minutes and pretty much waisted a year of eligibility.

Vanderjagt and Selvig should really redshirt this year. Selvig needs to beef up a little if he's going to play the 4 (I don't see him as a 3 really...) and Dave V needs to (if possible) bulk up a little more too. He's already going to miss several games it looks like due to an injury, and rarely played last year. Hopefully he'll be willing to redshirt this year, so we have him next year when we lose Strait.mslacat wrote:Vanderjact with the Griz refused a redshirt last year for the Griz Tinkle played him in a handful of games and for a handful of minutes and pretty much waisted a year of eligibility.
As it stands right now, with Qvale looking very good, and Sharp doing a great job off the bench too, I don't see Selvig or Vanderjagt getting much playing time this year..

Yeah, they thumped us pretty good. And believe it or not, I was planning on coming on here and eating some crow on Sunday. However, that's when the crap with the thugs broke, and quite frankly I just didn't have the stomach for us.
The Zags are going to be tough this year. They just absolutely hammered Idaho last night.

Unless Idawho improved dramatically this year that ranks right up there with hammering an NAIA team.GrizinWashington wrote:Yeah, they thumped us pretty good.
