OGDEN, Utah -- Weber State quarterback Cameron Higgins and two teammates accused of shoplifting have been suspended for Saturday's game at Northern Colorado.

Coach Ron McBride suspended Higgins, Marvin Walker and Alex Tupulua after they were cited for shoplifting Monday at the campus bookstore.

"It wasn't anything too severe, but it's something that you have to react to," McBride said.

The case had been turned over to Ogden Justice Court, which will decide whether to formally charge the players, Weber State spokesman John Kowalewski said.

Higgins, a redshirt freshman from Hawaii, completed 13 of 20 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns Saturday in a 26-7 victory over Sacramento State, the first win of the season for the Wildcats.

Brendon Doyle is scheduled to start at quarterback this week.

Walker, a safety from California, and Tupulua, an offensive guard from Hawaii, are freshmen.

I wonder how much we are talking about? Was this a prankish sort of thing (stealing candy bar) or a serious theft (lifting something of value)?

Either way, really dumb.

I guess if there is a bright side, they get suspended against N. Colorado where they might not be needed

if you're keeping score, France gave us Burgundy wine, cigarettes, berets, B.O., brie and the Napoleon complex-Bill Simmons

If McBride really wanted to get his point accross he would have suspended them for any game OTHER than No Co.

It's just an easy out for McBride playing N Co

Typical cop out.
