Nice quote

Little quote from a coach after the game, which shows up until this point that all the talk has some validity.

"The game marked Fort Lewis’ second visit to Missoula in three years. The Grizzlies also shut out the Skyhawks 55-0 in 2005. Despite Saturday’s slightly lower score, Rifalato said this year’s Montana team is much better than the last one he saw.The 2005 Grizzlies were 8-3 before losing to Cal Poly in the opening round of the playoffs.

"They were 100 times better than they were in the 2005 season,"Rifilato said. "I was praying to play the 2005 team. The 2005 team was nothing compared to this team"

Now, I know this guys wants to build up the Griz to make is loss look better, but even if you discount it a bit you have to concede that the Griz have reloaded again.

#1- Your post has absolutely nothing to do with Bobcat Athletics- learn to post in the proper forum

#2- We don't give a sh!t!! about the fizzlies.

It's a great post regardless. It shows what our division has to offer. From a guy who roots for both the Griz and the Cats I like this quote. I'm hoping to see both teams in the Playoffs this year.

For 16 straight seasons, apparently, neither did your players.

Duh, this may go down as one of the most irrelevent posts of all time. Did anyone say anything to prompt this post? I don't think anyone on this board said UM wouldn't be better than they were in 2005 or that UM wasn't "reloaded," which they aren't but I'll get into that later. So what's to concede? If I recall you had one decent win all year against Cal Poly at home, but then got stomped by them at home in the first round. This team should get to the semi-finals, especially considering there is only one team good enough to beat you in the regular season. So at 10-1 you get at least two home games.

As for "reloaded," that isn't a word used to describe what a team has done over a two-year period. It's in reference to a team that has graduated a ton of good players the previous year and then just "reloads" with the second string and is just as good as before. Your team had to "reload" about six positions this year and other than Tuff Harris there wasn't a whole lot of high quality players to replace. But you're a typical, bandwagon Griz fan as I can easily tell, so you just go ahead and use whatever words you want to describe your team.

And I might add that this guy got his ass-kicked 55-0 in 2005 (the team he was hoping-and-praying to play again) and 49-0 in 2007, so I'm thinking he's a little punch drunk. Anyone can see this UM team is better than the 2005 bunch without even going to a game, but he doesn't get too specific.

BTW, if we beat you, are you going to come back on here and tell us MSU must 100 times better than it was in 2005?

That quote doesn't really tell me anything considering that coach said that the griz were "100% better than the 05 team" BEFORE the game... which tells me he bought into all the hype too.

On a side note, that coach isn't the sharpest tack in the pack. If I were playing for a coach that was telling the media that we were inferior, going to get thumped, hopefully escape with a check and not too many injuries... I would probably play that way as well.

The guy was quoted in the frizzoulian all last week arguing for the inferiority of his team. In most places fans would be clamoring for a coaches head with those kinds of quotes. I can tell this guy's going far!

I'll agree to the former, but would venture to say that a large quantity of your base cares far too much about the Griz.

Besides, this post did exactly what I thought it would do, thanks for proving my point.

I get that alot actually. You see, I've been directly affiliated with both UM and MSU. I think both athletic programs have alot to offer. However I do prefer different teams for different sports. However, I am a Dallas fan and you would never catch me rooting for the Redskins or 49ers. Pulling for MSU and UM is tough, but once you have Maroon and Silver in you it's just as hard to let go as having Blue and Gold in you. I suppose one day I'll have to make a definate decision though. PS. I am in Bozeman now so which way do you suppose I'll lean come Cat/Griz?

Hey, I post a quote on here from an coach that just played your rival. And I did so to see what kind of response it would receive. Granted I should not have posted it in the Bobcat section, however the point of boards it to create discussion. I had a theory and it was confirmed. Simple as that. If your only retort is to respond with name calling, then who is the "Loser"?

So ... if MSU happens to beat Dixie State handily this week, and if Dixie State's coach then says something complimentary about the MSU team, and if an MSU person then posts that quote on the Griz board absent any conversation or reason to post it, and if Griz fans then question why that person would post that on the Griz board and maybe even mock the person for doing so ... does that then "confirm your theory" ... but about Griz fans?

Something tells me that the reason this is such a "touchy subject" for many of the cat fans is that they are all too familiar with having some "Blue and Gold IN them.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling on this one.

Born2,

It's clear this coach is @ Ft. Lewis for a reason. For anyone to put any stock in how good the Griz might be based on a *cough* game against Ft. Lewis is ludicrous.

Seriously, he's the *cough* Head Coach for Ft. Lewis; do you really consider him an authority on good football teams? Every opponent he faces must look like the Indianapolis Colts to him...

I'm sure the Griz will lose no more than 2 Big Sky games, potentially host 3 playoff games, and advance to at least the quarterfinals; to state that this edition of the Griz is that much better than in 05 is pretty meaningless after only 2 scrimmages, I mean games...

Oh, I have no doubt we would have our share that did the same thing that happened here. Also, if you had played Dixie State two years ago and the coach came out and said you were 100 times better, I would find it interesting.
