Garnett to the Celtics

Post by MTBobcatFan » Mon Jul 30, 2007 9:07 pm

It looks like KG is getting traded to the Celtics. The Celtics will be loaded next year with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and now KG. It'll be weird to see him in a Celtics uniform. When I see this many stars on one team it always makes me wonder if that's a good thing. I'll keep a watch on the Celtics this coming season.

at least he is not going to the lakers... :D

now only if that trade would have been to the jazz for a second round draft pick in the year 3050

I keep hearing it on the news every 1/2 hour here, and I can't help but wonder how it feels to be one of 6 guys being traded for ONE other guy. That's gotta make you feel like a star!

I saw rumors about KG going to the Lakers. I would have liked that! Even if it would have depleted the Lakers roster. Now my Lakers will be meeting the Celtics in the NBA Finals next year. The old rivalry is back.

Can you say Hershal Walker and the Vikings.

Danny Ainge makes Isaiah look like a genius.

Its a good trade as long as KG stays healthy. Allen on outside stroking the 3, Pierce inside/outside stroking 3 or attacking and KG dominating the inside. They will be hard to guard with those 3 on the court that is for sure. Now if they have an injury, they could be in trouble. They are rolling the dice on this, but in the EASY EAST I say why not. Jefferson was the only player in that deal that was going to be a star anyway.

Being a Laker fan of 27 yrs, I like your thinking. However I'd say the Celtics have a WAY better chance of getting there before us. :(

We will be the 5th-6th best team in the West again next year. Beat in the 1st round again and Kobe will blame the world... :?

I agree. The Lakers haven't made any off-season moves that would get them past the first round again except maybe getting Mr. 0.4 Seconds Fish back may help. It's awesome he's a Lakers again.

I think too many star players on one team is a bad thing. Remember the 04 team of Bryant, O'Neal, Payton, Malone? They got to the Finals but they self-imploded there. Even the Mavs have had their days of too many stars on one team.

Celtics get:
Kevin Garnett

Timberwolves get:
Al Jefferson
Ryan Gomes
Gerald Green
Sebastian Telfair
Theo Ratliff
two first round picks

Its the first time in NBA history one team has traded 7 players for another.

The Celtics traded Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and their 2007 Draft Pick, Jeff Green, for Ray Allen. It sounds like the Celtics will have a deep bench this coming season. Who the heck are they going to have as their 6th Man? Will the Celtics even be able to afford one? I say go for Rodman.

i like the lakers also, however, i hope that any team with kobe briant on its roster is perpetually in the lottery with the highest salary cap numbers of the league (see the new york knicks). but i digress

i heard those rumors also - and i think the trade came close to comming down, i am very glad it didnt

Last I watched which was some time ago the league was 5 on 5 not 3 on 3 and they only played with one basketball. I think Ainge is grasping at straws in an attempt to save his job.

Its 5 on 5 in college, not in NBA :)
