Portland State to change look

PORTLAND STATE FOOTBALL MEDIA DAY • NEW UNIFORM INTRODUCTION
Portland State will have a Football Media Day Event on Tuesday, August 7 at 10 a.m. at Stott Community Field. Head Coach Jerry Glanville will speak about the upcoming season in a press conference format at 10 a.m. At 10:15 a.m., PSU will introduce its new football logo and uniforms, designed by Nike. Coaches and players will be available for interviews immediately following the uniform introduction.

Portland State has an incorporated a new secondary logo for the football program that will be featured on the Viking uniforms and helmets. A stylized Viking spear does not replace the current Portland State Athletics logo, it merely serves as an alternative for the football program. The Viking spear was developed by sports-apparel giant Nike, and will run over the crown of the helmet. Nike has also produced new Viking uniforms for the 2007

actually one of the players said it doesn't look anything like Oregon's, sadlt he said it looked......robotic.

Maybe Oregon will give PSU their hand-me-downs from last season. Except cover the "Ducks" with duct tape and write "Vikings" on it.

Don't know if anyone actually looked at the new uniforms, they aren't bad but the helmet is QUESTIONABLE at best. What the heck is this?

This just in...

In addition to designing the new uniforms and helmet pattern, Nike has also agreed to pony up for any player to wants to get a tribal armband tattoo to complement the helmet.

I wish they ended up with yellow jerseys, just so we could chant:

at them.

That's what a lot of people have been wondering. I think it is pretty much black and white. I think the upper part of their jersey's are the only parts of the uni with a green color.

It would make total sense if they went to black/white unis...that's what Knucklehead did when he took over at Atlanta. He thought it made them look "baaaaad" to put a black falcon on a black helmet with black uniforms in Atlanta, Ga.

I think they should have put something like a hood ornament, that resembles the front of viking war ship, on the front of their helmet.

Maybe someone could create that for our viewing enjoyment?
