P.S.

Please say yes.
Dean was the 'Voice of the Bobcats' and did a great job! (I wish he'd come back, but he's been there, done that). Amazing that a giz fan could say anything bad about a Cat announcer looking back at the slate of griz announcers over the years.

I didn't like Dean when I worked at MSU. Just wondering if he was gone.

Which announcers are you refering to that are so bad for the Griz?

I love Gurns, Grady and Mick.

Hermes voice and comments make you want to shove your head into a blender and select the highest speed possible. He is by far the worst ever.

Well, you just mentioned four- that's a good start.

YOUR annoucners make me want to punch a baby.

At least Dean and Kris called it like it way instead of putting out an agenda for the team.....

Alexander sucked period.

I love the homer approach when calling a game, it's awesome. If your going to have announcers why not have them on your side?

Gurns is the best and Holein is ok for a tool.

You have got to be kidding me! I will say Grady, who is seldom on the air, is professional but you should be embarassed by your other two clowns. Gurnsey has the maturity of a 12-year old. I have been listening more than once when it was obvious the Griz were going down. First, Gurnsey starts crying and pouting about the officiating, questions the coaches for poor decisions, then quits speaking altogether and finally he leaves the booth before the game is even over! Mick actually has the skills to be good but is so biased he just can't help himself. If the opponent ever has a big play, you can barely tell what happened because of the silence - it is such a struggle for either one to compliment the other team (especially the Cats).

On the other hand, I always thought Dean was almost too professional - if that's possible. It was like he was trying to be so fair and impartial that sometimes you couldn't tell which team's announcer he was. That's why I thought Kris A. was great - an emotional Bobcat fan but yet somehow still fair and professional at the same time.

While we're in this discussion, let’s bring back Grayson Davis. He and Gurnsey could gravel over the bad call, or what the heck is the qb doing. With announcers like those two, UM could save money by converting the announcer’s box to box seats and place the microphone in the stands.

Isn't it Mick Holien who always refers to the Griz as "the good guys"? If that is not the ultimate in unprofessional "homerism", then I don't know what is. And Gurnsey is probably even more biased than Holien. I also agree that Grady Bennett does a GREAT job on the Cat-Griz telecasts, and that it is a shame he does not do more radio/TV. He offers great insights, as well as being completely unbiased. I know that he coaches HS football in Kalispell, so probably impossible for him to do any more than just the Cat-Griz game.

Scotty... is that you? Because I think only Scotty himself could gloat about what a great announcer he is when he makes idiotic, childish comments about opposing players. It's bad enough having the homer approach from Gurnsey and Holien, let alone Scotty making derogatory comments about college athletes on the air. Holstein has gotten slightly better over the years (only slightly) and I have noticed that he'll sometimes pause after one of Scotty's childish rants.... I can only imagine Mick is shaking his head wondering how many more years he has to put up with Scotty's bs.

While I'll have to revel in Attebury's call of Corey Smith returning the opening kickoff against the Griz, I welcome Jeff as our new announcer. Welcome Jeff!

If you really believe this, you don't listen to many college football broadcasts. This is done by just about everyone. Bob Rondeau, voice of the UW Huskies and a nationally renowned broadcaster, calls UW the "good guys" far more often than Holien does.

And besides, why shouldn't those guys have a homer lean. They work for the team's radio broadcast network, for gawd's sake. Who do you think their primary listeners are??

I never put any stock into someone from another team saying an announcer is good or not. They are always listening from "their" perspective and Jesus Christ himself could be announcing a game and they'd still say he was too biased.

I like Holien and Gurnsey. I don't like msu announcers. I can certainly understand why a cat fan would feel the exact opposite.

Gurns & Hole are both tools. I can understand that home announcers almost have to be homers. There is a difference between puting a favorable home town spin on a broadcast and being a dickhead homer. If you listen to them the opponent commits a penaly on every play that is almost never called and the g-wiz never commit a penalty and the offical made a mistake.

Grady is the only one that has some objectivity.

Alexander did have some homer in him but he could be objective when it was called for.

Don't forget Larry Frost and Jeremy Jerkensom

Yeah I agree on Grady. He has a lot of objectivity and insight into the broadcasts. I think he does a very good job.

Gurns and Hole are TOOLS aka Dickhead homers.

There is only a loose correlation between what their commentary is and what is actually happening on the field. Easy to see/hear that. It's a matter of degree, a favorable "homer" spin is one thing what they do/did quite different.

This thread has gone on long enough. Let me just sumarize it for all cat fans so we can move on:

What thread are you reading?

Not one post said anything like your summarization.

Being a little objective while reading this thread might be helpful.
