JD Quinn could be done at UM

Post by crazycat » Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:45 am

According to egriz JD Quinn was arrested on suspicion of DUI over the weekend. I’d think that given all the other problems that Quinn had that precipitated his move to UM and that he was asked by Hauck and basically refused to keep quiet about the ‘money-for-no-work’ deal he had in Norman, that he’d be released from the team. Especially when you consider that Jason Washington was kicked off the team for missing a training session, even though he had a doctor’s note.

If Quinn was arrested for DUI I hope BH gets rid of him.

Serious question though crazy, why do you keep re-hashing eGriz topics over here? Seems strange......

I think rehashing from a cat point of view is ok. BN should have a thread on Quinn IMO.

Posting a link from Egriz and going, "teacher teacher look what Egriz is doing!" is lame IMO.

I do not have time to read egriz. I like to see what is happen with the griz so I appreciate posts about the griz. As long as it is a Read Digest format.

Quinn is obviously not very bright based off of some of his comments on the Oklahoma ordeal and now this. I can't believe the # of people on e-griz somewhat sticking up for him. Sure everyone can screw up and I know a lot of good people with a DUI under their belt, but you have to know that if caught you pay the consequences and in this case it should mean dismissal from the team. I would feel the same way if it was the best player on MSU's roster.

Hell, Quinn never even played a game at UM yet---for all we know he is the most over-rated lineman in the FCS.

If this was the first time he'd been trouble I might give him a second chance. But this is like his second or third chance. I think he already got a DUI in OK, plus the NCAA violation. I'd say this is strike 3.......

if he is good enough he will be able to find a team to play for - even on the FCS level

It is sickening that some eGriz fans stick up for this ****** moron. I think they just relate well because they are losers too.

He hasn't even played a game yet and it's just one thing after another with this idiot. Hauck better get rid of him or all his diciplineary talk is just ******.

It's cut and dried to me, get rid of him before he kills somebody next because he was at a party and though it would be fun to throw a 150lb guy through a window...hee hee haw ha get me a beer for the drive home.

TG: Because I figure not everyone here goes over to egriz and that folks here are more than likely interested in this information. I don't call it re-hashing, maybe just getting the word out. Any time an athlete gets a DUI, it's interesting.

Jagur1: Egriz is the source of the info, so I stated as much. I guess I could just act like I heard it somewhere else. Noting that it came from egriz directs people to go there and read the thread for the UM fan take/spin and get more details/entertainment.

I guess I'm in the camp that says he should be punished but not dismissed.

It seems a lot of people, including me at the time, were ready to send Chavez down the river and he seems to have benefited from a second/third chance under somewhat similar circumstances.

As far as I know Chavez got a DUI. I believe this would be Quinn's second....not to mention the trouble with the NCAA and Oklahoma. I wonder if his former teammates at OU who were recently informed they now forfeit all their games from 2005 would agree he shouldn't be dismissed?

That's the part I find troubling too. Although the first was one of those "baby" DUIs (he blew a .02 or .03 but was under 21) he doesn't seem to learn.

I disagree. I don't think this DUI alone is grounds for dismissal, but when you add everything else up, it's a pattern of bad character. At least one other arrest for DUI in OK, a (rumored) assault charge in OK. The NCAA violation which got him kicked off the team, the idiotic things he keeps saying to the press even after Bobby specifically told him not too, and a buddy of mine showed me a clip of him on a YouTube video partying it up, smoking a cigar, acting like a pretty big deal.

This guy smells like a bad egg IMO.

Neither of our schools need to be bringing in people like this... expecially now.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!

QUESTION: If Quinn was bailed out by someone is that technically a gift to Quinn himself (even if he paid it back?). I mean fans/boosters can't loan players money so is in fact that a loan?

Kids get bailed out all the time. I've never heard the NCAA having a problem with improper bail. I say it's a non issue. On a side note did Harry live or die Cardiac.

Just a question that has to be asked ... a gift is a gift :)

Harry and Hendersons! Of course Harry lived! :)

It reads to me like he had 2 alcohol related incidents in OK and now this one in MT.

I am sick of the "kids make mistakes and deserve a second chance" thing. This is his 4th chance now unless my math is bad.

Second chances are fine but 4th chances to me means he needs to be bounced into the real world and make it to 40-50 years old and look back at the gift he had and pissed away.

In my opinion, no kid should get a second chance when it comes to this stuff. Most kids do not get a FIRST chance to get an education for free while also playing the sport they love.
