Wrote one of the best books on college football called Meat Market. Just out out another book I want to read about the modern training of quarterbacks. He knows his stuff.

I think you are correct. Haslam would get a lot of heat from some if he didn't interview a former player and former coach at UM that has national coaching credentials at the FBS level.LongTimeCatFan wrote:It's not Baldwin. He thinks he has a shot at FBS from where he's at now. That's probably not going to happen.
It's Bob Stitts, Brent Pease, and Bob Hauck, in that order. They're just waiting on Pease to interview this week.

Baldwin a possibility as OC to OSU? Maybe a package deal with Adams?

“Offensively, we want to open it up,” Andersen said. “We want to be able to put ourselves in position with the quarterback where the quarterback has to be accounted for in three ways: With his arm. With his legs. And with his mind. And it’s important today in college football that we are able to do that.”
"So would Vernon Adams, who owns one of the greatest single-game performances in Reser Stadium history.
In the 2013 opener, Adams threw for 411 yards, rushed for 107 and accounted for six touchdowns as the Eagles stunned OSU 49-46. Adams also threw for 475 yards and seven touchdowns in a 59-52 loss at Washington this year.
There’s no doubt Adams can torch Pac-12 defenses, but would he consider leaving Cheney for Corvallis?
Perhaps.
Andersen is still shopping for an OC, and current EWU head coach Beau Baldwin looks like a viable candidate."

Craziest thing I have ever read on here. (About Adams not Baldwin, I could see him going to somewhere as an OC).GRIZ1STCATS2ND wrote:Baldwin a possibility as OC to OSU? Maybe a package deal with Adams?

Didn't Adams just finish his junior year? And doesn't transferring "up" cost you a year of eligibility?

Not sure how it works exactly. I think you have to pursue a graduate degree that isn't offered at the school where you are currently a student? Don't quote me on that, it's complicated but apparently he may be able to do that (and most likely would) should the opportunity arise.

What I meant was if he is able to do this he would be able to play next year at an FBS school.....uhmmmmmm.... I think? Maybe Kupp would get an invite too!GRIZ1STCATS2ND wrote:Not sure how it works exactly. I think you have to pursue a graduate degree that isn't offered at the school where you are currently a student? If he graduates and goes to grad school in a program Eastern doesn't offer, he'll be able to play next fall. I thought I'd read he is on schedule to graduate. I know he was pretty upset none of the PAC 10 schools recruited him.91catAlum wrote:Didn't Adams just finish his junior year? And doesn't transferring "up" cost you a year of eligibility?

Russell Wilson is one I can think of who gained an extra year of college eligibility due to that rule. I don't know whether Adams would have one or two years of eligibility but I'm fairly certain Keeton would only have one year.

Adams has played at least 3 years already so he does not have two years left.Cat Grad wrote:If he graduates and goes to grad school in a program Eastern doesn't offer, he'll be able to play next fall. All I know is he was a redshirt junior this year. If he does in fact graduate and get accepted in a graduate program at an instution Eastern doesn't offer, he would be given another year of eligibility. Russell Wilson played five years of Division 1 football. Four at North Carolina State and one year at Wisconsin. I don't know the rule specifics as to whether Adams would get his one remaining undergraduate year as he's only used three and then be eligible for the graduate year.91catAlum wrote:Adams has played at least 3 years already so he does not have two years left.Cat Grad wrote:If he graduates and goes to grad school in a program Eastern doesn't offer, he'll be able to play next fall. I vaguely recall a major program basketball player sued assuming be ought to have two years of eligibility and lost. He only got to play one year but I believe there were three schools involved hence the decision. Somewhere in the brief of the case I recall had he gone directly to the third school be would have been allowed to play for that school two years.

You still only get 5 years to play 4. Wilson was a rs freshman in 2008, and played his 4th year of football in the 2011 season. Since Adams already redshirted, he would have to graduate this spring, then transfer in order not to sit out for a season.Cat Grad wrote:All I know is he was a redshirt junior this year. Colter, obviously you typically have solid info. If you were accurate with this statement, it tells me that these two both turned down UM and UM had to fall back to the 3rd or 4th choice candidate?Colter_Nuanez wrote:Here's what I know:
Haslam went to Cheney last week to see Baldwin.
One of the only boosters that matters wants Baldwin, as does Haslam.
Bobby Hauck has been calling and texting said booster as well as everyone that matters for weeks. He resigned in order to pursue this position.
Several other very influential boosters have said if Bobby isn't the guy, promised funding will not come through.
The only two candidates for that job are Baldwin and Hauck. The other two are just a formality.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

It's not just the clearinghouse argument. GPA and core curriculum requirements are lower at Eastern than the Montana Schools. I've looked it up.

So, has there been an athlete at msu (or um) who has met ncaa clearinghouse, but was turned down for admission?

I don't know, but I would assume yes. you need to have a 2.5 minimum GPA and enough math and science just to get accepted. I think it's two years of each. I'll do some further research.wbtfg wrote:So, has there been an athlete at msu (or um) who has met ncaa clearinghouse, but was turned down for admission?
