I'd think that this would be enough of a high profile issue in Missoula that the Missoulian or some media outlet would've picked up and reported info like that. I just want to see something substantial- if in fact it's true that's great news for the griz FB program.
I don't know if this is good news for the griz program or not. Sometimes just ripping the band aid off is the easiest thing to do. If he does get off, there is that festering wound just sitting there throughout the season that comes up at every game on the road.
The other thing that needs to be mentioned if he does get off and only had one beer is the fact that he had one beer. If he did get some sort of treatment last year, I am sure he knows that an alcoholic cannot have even one beer. How can he possibly be put on a shorter leash?
I guess my point was that if he was falsely arrested and committed no crime, that would be good news for the griz. I have no what rules/restrictions he may have been under with the coaching staff, AD, or administration- maybe one beer was a violation and if so he'll have to deal with it.
My skepticism of this latest news is based on my very limited knowledge of municipal court procedure, but I always thought when you went before the judge the first time, be it a speeding ticket, stop sign violation, DUI, etc. all that happened was the judge said do you plead guilty or not guilty. If you plead guilty the judge assessed a fine, etc. and if you plead not guilty it went to the next step of the legal system, municipal court was not a trial. That's why I question the matter of the judge saying the case was mishandled and gave JD his bond back at his initial court appearance- did the arresting officer or someone from the Missoula PD show up and tell the judge, JP, whatever, that they completely blew it? And I'm still having a problem of the Missoulian, tv, etc., not picking up on something that happened in court last Thurs. morning.

Well, at a minimum they would have had the arresting officer's report, and there would have been a prosecutor there. Perhaps there was something in the report so glaring, or perhaps the prosecutor admitted that the case was mishandled, leaving the judge no choice but to dismiss.
If (and that is now a very LARGE if) he was driving drunk, then I'm not happy about this. But if the police rushed to a poor decision because of who he is and his past, then good for the judge.
The fact that no blood was drawn to me is an indication that perhaps the police knew by that time that he was not intoxicated.

Seeing the idiots like GF10/PlayaRape/Grizzle/Green26/ support this kind of behavior with unlimited excuses, just proves the kind of fans the Griz have and many are very pompous and ignorant. They are willing to sweep this stuff under the rug to feed their inner "never cut it at sports" child.
There isn't any excuse and one chance is more than enough when it comes to the kind of problems we have had under the sterling Bobbie Hauck.
I agree, the damage has been done wether he is guilty or not. He plastered UM's/Haucks/Oday's bad image all over the papers by doing that and he should have learned the first time! I mean the 4th time (ugh) that he can't just do whatever he pleases anymore and put himself in those situation. I think they pretty much have to let him go because if they don't and keep him on and he gets in trouble again I think you point the finger at Hauck this time BIG TIME.
But I guess if I remember O'days comments on Quinn's last one it was pretty much .. shucks .. IT'S NO BIG DEAL. So if they are okay with UM's name being plastered on SI and every local paper about student athletes breaking the law so be it. I'm glad we finally put our foot down and said enough was enough. That also looks VERY GOOD for potential recruits coming in the door for us (looks nice to parents as well of those players) as well knowing that there is now definate structure in place (if you don't think so ask Briggs

).

Right you are and that's the underlying theme about all this. I have to believe that parents and players, especially those in Montana that are exposed to the goings on at MSU and UM, are tuned in to all this news.
We had our problems, but what we've done to correct them and how we've reacted to them has been well publicized. As for UM they are continuing to have problems and have yet to take a stand to curtail it.
Players and parents know that MSU has put its foot down, but right now they have no idea what the situation is at UM. If this continues we'll be in for another big in-state recruiting year by default. If we can win the league or just make the playoffs this year, it could be a huge swing.
I don't mean to sound like I'm reveling in UM's bad situation, but even if this whole thing is bogus with Quinn, it's still a big strike against UM.

I think you should hold off on saying "we are better than the other school just yet." The staff can put everything in place and still have their players embarrass them. Current case in point. Quinn was suspended for 4 games, appearantly went through some sort of treatment and still seemed to find his way to the police blotter again. And by your statement on Briggs, will you still make that statement if he is reinstated over the summer?
I remember some of my fellow griz fans stating that recruiting against the cats in state would be a breeze after the Gatewood issue. The tides turn real quick as we have seen. I can guarantee you that any coach in the Big Sky can show potential recruits and their parents a definite structure in place to care for the student athlete once they sign their letter of intent. Unfortunately you can't brainwash a twenty something year old to not do stupid things. No program in the world is immune. Just look at the Duke LaCrosse scandal. Sure it turned out to be bogus, but there was still a bunch of young men getting drunk and hiring strippers for a party. That was a program like Duke. Even though there was not a rape, there was certainly all the ingredients for something bad to happen.
I used to laugh at my mom when she said, "nothing good ever happens after ten o'clock, so get your butt home in bed", but she is turning out to have been a very wise woman.

Well... seeing how I am a Bobcat fan and I really don't care for the Griz... I sincerely hope they keep Quinn on the team, which will most likely cause them a ton of embarassment. I remember last time he got arrested and Bobby kept him on the team... I told my Griz fan buddy that I would bet him $100.00 that Quinn would get arrested again before he was done playing for the Griz... unfortunately my friend wouldn't take the bet!
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Your buddy was smart enough to not take that bet. Get it? You'd have to be stupid to think that Quinn won't get busted again and take that bet.

That reminds me of what my dad used to do to me and my two brothers. Every once in awhile he would elbow one of us and say, "Hey, last night I f'd your mother." It used to really skeeve my brother's out. They had a hard time thinking of their parents as having sex.
