THE REAL STORY FROM JR's DAD
Postby JRNELSONDAD » Fri May 13, 2016 5:11 pm
I am JR's dad and this will be my one and only post to this blog:
It would have been very professional if AJ had gotten the complete story before he makes a major announcement; for one - he never asked JR about this event.
(1) JR's birthday was several days before the NDSU playoff game
(2) For his birthday he was given a brownie of which he took home and ate at home. The brownie was a 'bad' brownie of which JR nor his fiancee knew that it was not good. It was definitely a case of inadvertent use of a banned substance
(3) It soon became obvious that the brownie was not good because of dizziness and nausea that night
(4) before the NDSU game the team has drug testing
(5) JR has a positive test
(6) NCAA (anonymous) committee denies appeal and suspends JR for 5 1/2 games (this meeting was in February)
(7) Feeling justice has not been served correctly and having no prior substance abuse, JR contacts the NCAA on his own afterwards, goes up the chain and gets a very high official to hear his story
(8) The NCAA will consider reopening the case if JR provides certain legal written documentation that they have asked for - which is in the process of being done
It is my hope that bloggers and news media reporters will allow the entire process to take place in a legal and official way before 'breaking' any more "JR fails drug testing" articles.

Thanks
I am sure the NCAA has NEVER heard this excuse before…![]()
Additionally, if his father was doing a good job parenting he would have told his son not to take “candy from strangers” (in this case a brownie).
One last question; how many grown adults were given a brownie for their birthday to enjoy at their home by themselves? You know, you are walking out of your birthday party and some college students were handing you a brownie. Nothing out of the ordinary there…

We should cut the Griz some slack with those liberal arts degrees. Maybe their energy efficient solar powered abacus failed them on this one. Ha ha!JDoub wrote:Good to hear you've learned something over here.AlphaGriz1 wrote:MSU is the engineering school...............DO NOT question their math.

The Griz D will be a real question this year. Only 2 returning starters (minus Nelson) and 45 new kids on the roster. Wow! Sounds like a bad situation to me.

Might as well put 2 of their 30 receivers at corner. Good hands and speed. Sounds pretty innovative to me.RickRund wrote:Not to worry. Stitt is INNOVATIVE.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Not altogether a bad plan. If our coaching staff had any testicles we would have moved a third string QB and moved him to safety.

No. Wasn't Roderick one of the best defensive players in the state in high school.

Might work. Tru came as a WR and they converted him into a CB. Now he is one of the best CBs in the NFL.CatBlitz wrote:Might as well put 2 of their 30 receivers at corner. Good hands and speed. Sounds pretty innovative to me.RickRund wrote:Not to worry. Stitt is INNOVATIVE.

"Griz Completely Overhauling the Roster"
^ THIS ^
Stitt wants more than a BSC championship and a 1st or 2nd round playoff loss. His plan became accelerated while we were still on the field last year against NDSU. That's what he wants.

Ya, we all know what he wants, and what he's trying to do. Just like almost every other coach in the FCS, he wants to try to find a way to dethrone NDSU. Bringing in 50 new players in one year seems a bit extteme. Time will tell if the experiment will work or not.GRIZ1STCATS2ND wrote:"Griz Completely Overhauling the Roster"

Re: Griz Completely Overhauling the Roster
Couple of thoughts:
He recruited and signed around 32 new players on and around signing day. He has added a few more scholar-shipped players since (mainly drop down talent) to be around 35. This is more than most years, but it's not mind blowing. Hauck brought on 32 new faces one year for the Griz as well.
There have been another 10 walk ons who are listed on the GoGriz.com roster (which by the way is almost as inconsistent and backwards as your on line rosters so I wouldn't read too much into that). Many of these guys want a shot but will not make the final roster cuts but there is no harm no foul in letting them see what they can do. We have a number of kickers on the roster who won't be around once we get a drop down. We have some walk on QBs who won't be around come final roster either.
Here's the other funny thing. According to the majority of you, since 2011 supposedly didn't count, the Griz have been irrelevant for the last 5-6 years. Wouldn't that demand a so-called major overhaul to get things back in the right direction? I can't wait to see how this all plays out. I personally think we are on the cusp of some great things happening. We will all know soon enough.
