Re: 3 Griz Arrested
Here's the summary from the Missoulian if you're interested. Main points:
- didn't know structure was occupied by a family
- went in to get out of rain
- players had been drinking at a house party down the road
- didn't want to drive so called for a ride
- UM student (not football players) stole a case of beer from the garage
- designated driver who dropped them off earlier came back to pick them up, in her PJs, and was arrested as well
- families are all out 5k in bail money
- guessing a 1 game suspension but not sure. I feel 1 game is fair.

3 Griz Arrested
Oh come on! They will be out one quarter. Then keep scratching their heads why their student population continues to tank. AND the girl went in the structure. Now daddy is threatening a lawsuit. Of course he is a lawyer. Gawd stop!

The code of conduct says a minimum of a one game suspension for a misdemeanor.91catAlum wrote:They'll be playing 11/7, why not 11/21?LongTimeCatFan wrote:Are they playing 11-21 or not?

If Stitts suspension of Gamboa over an earlier misdemeanor sets precedence, that's what I would expect to see here. I feel that is fair. Do you guys think that it should be worse? Please try to remove Griz hatred when you answer that (as hard as that is). Imagine this whole scenario being Prukop, Newell, and Flynn. Would they deserve more than 1 game? I'd say no way.

Re: 3 Griz Arrested
Really a shame. Seems bizarre to me because I've walked through construction sites with my family looking at the floorplans. Maybe it was the beer the kids took that upset the owners? Personally, I'm glad nothing more came out of it. Must have been a few six packs of Copper Johns Ale from Belgrade instead of that other horse pizz brewed in missoula. (And if you're going to suggest it was Cold Smoke Bridger Bowl Ale, nope, don't think so. Even a griz football player would understand that's a plagerized from MSU...and don't make fun about plagerism given one of their graduates who became a senator...)...

Ugh, actually Tim (owner/proprietor) of Kettle House Brewery is an MSU grad and Bobcat fan. And yes, all of his beer names have a Bozeman innuendo if you hadn't noticed.

Personally, I'd probably say 2 games.
But if Blake only got suspended one basketball game (approx. 1/30th of a season) for misdemeanor shoplifting, it would be tough for me to argue these guys should miss more than one FB game (1/11th of a season).

It's why I always eat in Fudruckers when I get punished and have to go to Miss Lulu. Every wall has a reference to an iconic event or people one would immediately associate with Bozeman.LongTimeCatFan wrote:More riddles...Cat Grad wrote:Really a shame. Re: 3 Griz Arrested
Then you were trespassing on someone's private property as well. Its funny how we have arguments when the Dede kid was shot and killed in Missoula for trespassing in someone's garage, about the rights of people to defend their property and how far someone can go to protect their family and home. Here we have a lot of people saying, "Oh, well, just kids. They were drunk. Stupid mistake. Just getting out of the rain. No big deal." ITS THE SAME FREAKING DEAL. Which is it? Is a person's private property, well, yours and private, or is it no big deal depending on who is trespassing and whether they're a "good kid" or not.Cat Grad wrote:Really a shame. And no, I'm not advocating in any way, manner or form that this SHOULD have gone down like the other incident I referenced.

Really, you've walked thru "construction sites" with your family in the dark by climbing a ladder and entering thru a window at 3am? I doubt that.Cat Grad wrote:Really a shame. As for GA's post of excuses... For who stole the beer, of COURSE the non-football player was the one who stole it... I imagine I'd take the rap for my scholarshipped friends as well. There's no way to know who stole it for certain. And I don't doubt that they didn't know the house was occupied - this has nothing to do with itr, burglars and trespassers alike generally prefer unoccupied places.
Having said that, i do think misdemeanor trespass is the correct charge from what I know.
But has there ever in history been a prosecutor who worked harder for defendants than Kirsten Pabst?? Wow! If I'm ever charged with felony burglary in a similar incident, can I expect the DA to delay my arraignment twice while she investigates the charges, and within a few days, reduce my charges to misdemeanor trespass? HELL no. If the cops charged me with a felony, I'd have to lawyer up, plead not guilty to buy time, then my lawyer would have to negotiate the charges down or work out a plea bargain over several weeks at least. But I don't play football in Missoula...
With a prosecutor like Kirsten Pabst, who needs defense lawyers (if you're a griz football player, anyway).

With a DA like Pabst, surely she could have quit her job (again) and defended the football players (again).91catAlum wrote:Really, you've walked thru "construction sites" with your family in the dark by climbing a ladder and entering thru a window at 3am? Re: 3 Griz Arrested
Remember what Cris Carter tells NFL rookies? Well, looks like that message might've trickled down to the FCS. "Just in case y'all not going to decide to do the right thing, if y'all got a crew, you got to have a fall guy in the crew." I love it. It was the non_player that took the case of beer!!
Of course I'll be labeled (re-labeled) a Grizoner hater for noting this.

Re: 3 Griz Arrested
I hear the penalty for a misdemeanor is one game.
What's the penalty for 'getting caught' drinking during the season?
What's the penalty for aiding and abetting theft? Could three big football players not talk one non-player out of stealing that beer?
We already know Pabst is corrupt. It'll be interesting to see what Haslam and Stitt do now.
