First in his family to earn a college degree, and to do it in 4 years while playing lights out is an accomplishment worthy of admiration. I wish him success in his future, whatever that looks like for him.
I do hope he earns the starting role at Oregon and wins big -- that would only reflect well on the Big Sky.

The scuttlebutt I am hearing is he left the board in shame after posting this thread.
Well he signed on as recently as yesterday.

Love it or hate it, and least Papa sticks to his guns. A lot of people seem to fall into the group think system and then try to ostracize those who have not come around to rational thought, crazy though it may be. What is wrong with the guy that stays firm in his opinions?Jobu wrote:PapaG wrote:I wasn't wrong on this one. I'm saying that, give or take, 95% of what's posted on a college sports message board is rumors about college-aged kids. I find it odd that you're just realizing this.
I also find it odd that you're welcome to post your thoughts and rumors (and of course you are), but that you berate others who do so when you don't agree with them.

Re: Vernon "No Degree" Adams
Really? There is only one thread out of 30 total on the front page of this forum that has a negative rumor about a college-aged person, and zero out of 30 on the Bobcat forum. I don't care about positive rumors, or recruiting speculation, and would never post critically about them because that's part of posting. But a Vernon "No Degree" Adams thread where the OP bails when it turns out the rumor was completely unfounded? I just don't see how these threads make this a better community. Frankly, I'm surprised that you're so upset about me being critical of a bogus rumor, but maybe that's your thing.Jobu wrote:I'm saying that, give or take, 95% of what's posted on a college sports message board is rumors about college-aged kids.
Also, are you sure you didn't mean 1.6%? Or, were you just pulling a stat out of your butt?

From the Spokesman
Even as Vernon Adams Jr. gets down to business of trying to become the next starting quarterback at the University of Oregon, he still has some unfinished business in Cheney.
Eastern Washington’s former quarterback participated in EWU graduation ceremonies on Saturday, but still needs to pass “two more math tests” and file paperwork to finalize his degree in interdisciplinary studies, Adams told The Oregonian on Tuesday night.

Oh the irony....
Papa, quite to the contrary, I want the kid to graduate. I want everyone to have a college education, but I think one will really serve Adams well.
I just found it more than a little comical that you consistently blasted the OP for stating there may be a question about whether he'll graduate, and were adamant to the point of rudeness that he was definitely going to graduate on time, when lo and behold, the OP was 100% correct.

Does the "scuttlebutt you are hearing" qualify as an "unfounded rumor"? I thought you were against "unfounded rumors"...PapaG wrote:It's a formality. He's already in Eugene.

By the way, you stated that you were 100% right. Based on the article you posted, it appears that you are 100% wrong. But then again, is Papa G ever wrong??? You should consider apologizing to the original poster. His "rumor" was not so "unfounded". But then you have to admit that you were wrong.

The math class and tests have always been the issue since he decided to change majors and transfer, that's a fact. Whether he could pass them or not was the issue and that generated rumors because he had issues with math, thus the fact he's taking a "rumored" 100 or 200 level math class to graduate.
Adams is a really good dude, but the rumors at least had some legs and maybe still do

Re: Vernon "No Degree" Adams
Nobody posted a rumor thread of him passing his classes. You EWU fans have been spreading negative rumors about him since he left the program. Luckily, he's a class act and won't hold it against the EWU fanbase.marceag wrote:

Anyhow, it's a moot point. It's being reported this afternoon that he's officially graduated from EWU and he is joining his teammates next week. Unless, of course, he's lying and brought his parents and grandparents to Eugene as part of some big ruse.

There might have been some skeptics, some doubters, some naysayers, but Vernon Adams knew he would get himself ready to be at Oregon.
(Photo: 247Sports)
And he's done it. The future Oregon quarterback is already in Eugene and has spent this week showing his parents and grandparents Eugene. The family has seen the campus, the football stadium and of course the token stop at Track Town pizza.
"I'm all graduated and it's all good," Adams told DuckTerritory.com. "Now I can look forward to that next chapter here at Oregon. I'm down in Eugene now, I report with everyone else next week. Then it's time to get to work. It feels great to prove the doubters wrong but I'm just here to get to work now."

Unless Adams is lying about being in Eugene in the article I posted, I was correct. Or, maybe he's a liar playing some big ruse on us all. You'd probably fall for it.Cataholic wrote:Does the "scuttlebutt you are hearing" qualify as an "unfounded rumor"? I thought you were against "unfounded rumors"...PapaG wrote:It's a formality. Apologize? That's hilarious. I'm not going to apologize to a bunch of anonymous, jealous haters smearing a guy half their age.

Oh, I have a pretty good idea, Vernon. Some bitter EWU fans on a EWU message board would be the first place to start if he actually cared, but I'm sure he doesn't.
http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.s ... n_fin.htmlIn recent weeks, his academic status became message-board fodder in the Northwest, with rumors that he was failing classes on the cusp of joining the Ducks (he signed a financial aid agreement with UO shortly after announcing his plan to transfer).
Adams called the chatter "crazy," and that he didn't know where they originated.

A guy who can play like that probably doesn't read the message boards. I doubt there's anybody on this board or egriz or whatever board EWU has who could offer constructive criticism that would be relevant to making VA a better quarterback.PapaG wrote:Oh, I have a pretty good idea, Vernon.
