Kayla Anderson tweeted that President Engstrom needs to confirm the board's decision to expel and that confirmation has yet to take place. Once that happens, Im sure the news will be all over it.

UM will almost certainly put out a press release on it, if Engstrom confirms the decision. Colorado State recently expelled three football players and the school went public with the information pronto. UM would open itself up to a lot of criticism if it tried to stonewall on this.

Might be a hoax, might not be a hoax. In any event, a Fritz Neighbor tweet indicating no news ought to be worth a couple hundred comments at the forum that shall not be named.

Not saying it's true or not (I have no way of knowing), I just find it odd that a big story like this doesn't have anything more official than two tweets from Rahac and Neighbor (no offense CPACAT).
Maybe all the sports journalists in Montana are still digging in to it......or digging out of State Track in Butte.

But this is a pretty big story if true.

I've been thinking along the same lines. Pretty big story to take so long to hit the papers. We'll see in the coming week.

It seems strange that he would be expelled for a rape accusation. Think about the precedent that would set.
Is it possible he was expelled for a different reason?

I agree. All I have heard on this site is that there is no evidence and it was an angry girl friend seeking revenge. If that is not the case then fine, expell him. But if it turns out to be true where do you go from there. Anyone can make up any acqusation they want and a player loses his scholarship?

I will guarantee you that there is more to it than just an accusation. There is more information that what shows up in the paper or on egriz or Bobcat Nation.
I have heard that he is not the individual of high moral fiber that some would like to believe. It goes beyond the accusation that has been made public in the papers. I would guess that most everyone will never know the full story.

No there is not more info, its a he/said she/said scenario only, and what you heard is ******. He's a great kid and he's taking the fall for past transgressions in my opinion. That is why the cops aren't charging and believe me, they have been pressured massively to charge.

No, I think the president has 10 days to sign off on the expulsion. Johnson can appeal whenever he feels like it, but I don't think he has anything to appeal until the president stamps it.

Hmmm... I find it very hard to believe that UM would EXPEL someone unless they had some pretty sold evidence of wrong doing. Not just because they want to be nice and give the kid the benefit of the doubt, but because of the lawsuit happy culture we live in. If he violated the Student Code of Conduct, they probably have some proof.

Step 1 - Expulsion by committee.
Step 2 - Expulsion signed by Engstrom.
Step 3 - Appeal, if signed. If not signed, then no need to appeal.

In fact it would surprise me greatly if he goes anywhere, he wants to play football at UM and according to my "inside sources" there is a very "texting" reason why this whole assault thing is going to go away. Right now its just a lawyer that is posturing for the accuser and running a kids name into the ground.

I would personally be very shocked if JJs is forced out by the school.

If what doesn't hold true? Johnson's status as a student athlete?

As far as I can tell it was the smartest statement RE could make. The words he uses are very clinical and unbiased toward either party. He only talks about JJ's current status as a student....leaving the possibility that could change. If on the other hand, he believes JJ's version, he says so in a way that doesn't call the alleged victim a liar.

My guess is that they're being extra careful in what they say so as not to call JJ a rapist and not to call the complainant a liar.

I'm sure they're being careful not to do that, but does having H.E. put this out for Engstrom make any difference?
