Not sure what you mean about the refs. What happened?
Same method, different year. UM scores every way imaginable.
Apparently there were holds and take downs all game that weren't called. And at the end of the game there was a UC Davis pass in which there was a pass interference right in front of the ref that he didn't call. A lot of people were complaining about it on AGS.
Even the griz radio announcers, Gurnsey and Holein, said it was an obvious pass interference and could not believe the griz got away with it. I could not believe that was coming out of their mouths yestereday. They had a copule of calls where they counded impartial. Kind of freaked me out.
I have to agree the very fact that both Gurns and Hole said it was
obvious P.I. kind of freaked me out too.
Good thing I was sitting down.
As far as officiating bias one way or the other, I'm not buying it. Any fan of a certain team feels that their team is the one that's getting screwed. Anti fizz bias? You gotta be kidding. The coolaid in MSLA is certainly flowing freely...
Overall level of seeing and making calls can improve in the Big Sky conference, seems like nearly every big sky game there are some fairly obvious calls not made.

Those were my sentiments exactly....I only listened on the radio, so I have no idea if it truly should have been called PI or not. But I was STUNNED to hear Frick and Frack, aka Holien and Gurnsey, opine that it was clearly, blatantly PI. I just assumed that if they thought it was PI, then probably ANYONE in the world would have thought it was PI. I also agree that no teams, including MSU or UM, are "targeted" by BSC refs in any intentional manner. Sure, in some individual games, one team may get a few more calls their way than the other, but I firmly beleive that it all pretty much evens out during the course of the season. Of course, fans of a particular team will only remember the ones that went against them. If you watch the games closely though, all through the season, you will see approximately the same number of calls go your way....you just won't remember those calls (or non-calls) for nearly as long.

From were Gurnsey and Holein sit I bet it did look like blatant PI, but from where the ref was and the South end zone camera on replay there is no doubt it was a good no call. Fisher made a great play on the ball and there was minimal contact.
Like I said two pages ago, Should it have been called? IMO opinion no.
Could it have been called? Hell yes, I have seen way less get a flag.
Griz get more than their fair share of penalties, usually holding when they are inside the opponents 15. It all balances out in the long run, but good teams deal with the bad calls and find a way to win.
Bad teams just bitch about penalties.

Good post AlphaGriz1.
Bad teams bitch about penalties. Good teams make them, but win. Great teams rarely make them and dominate.
