Hey folks I just read where Butte High Star Gilder is in the intensive care at the Butte hospital after banging his head during the game last night. Every one should put him and his family in there thoughts. If anyone hears anything about how it is going let us know.

What surprised me yesterday is the number of top ranked teams that fell. West loses in OT (that surprised me, but I guess I can agree with what Longhorn said), Sentinel loses to CMR, and this one is less of a shock, but Great Falls taking down Butte in the Civic Center was still a surprise. Today's semifinals should be interesting (GF vs. Kalispell: Howard vs. Osweiller and CMR vs. Bozeman-a very competitive rivalry) and who knows what will happen. I think the biggest shocker came on the girls' side of the bracket when Butte took down #1 CMR.
GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan!

um...me! remember when the hawks weren't even the best team in their valley? who was the guy that said that manhattan, christian, three forks, and belgrade mat have been better? whether bozeman is big or not, you dont count out a mike cole coached squad. and while im not guarenteeing a win, i said a long time ago that bozeman is tough. but a rematch of the '98 title....i thin the hawks pull it out. anyone else gonna be there?Gus wrote:Down goes Big Sky. horrible game. even if i wasn't rooting on the hawks, that was a very poor championship game. the shooting was the worst i have ever seen, and i'm not just saying that! great falls played well, but the story has to be bozemans missed shots. they had 3 points after the first quarter, and if i'm not mistaken, only 4 or 5 field goals AT THE HALF! too bad, hate to see kids go out like that.

I went to the tournament to watch some great basketball and I was not disappointed. West is a good team ten deep but they chose this weekend to not shoot well and left the door open for Flathead to take advantage.
Flathead played well the Marquee match up of Howard and Osweiler was good Howard took it right at Flathead inside and out he finished with 21 points Osweiler had 12 points. Both are outstanding players but I think Howard's age and headyness was a factor in the game he really thinks well when teams keyed on him he kicked it out. When his team needed a bucket he took the game over.
Bozeman's shooting whoas started in the semis they struggled from the field and as many have said if you live by the three you die by the three.
The Tournament Champion is always the team that can strings together three straight games not always the team with the best record. GFHS did just that and I give a lot of credit to their coach Bob Howard he was masterful in the way he subbed defense for offense down the stretch and used all his players' strengths. I know we talk a lot about the greatness of Coach Cole but I think Coach Howard did an excellent job in preparing his team for the tournament; knocking off Butte, taking it at Flathead and handing Bozeman its worst loss of the season.
BTW to those who said it was a horrible game think about the fact these kids(15 to 18 year olds) have played their guts out for three straight days to play for the Championship, rarely are you best games on the third day. Also the student sections of both school did not complain. The Civic Center put on a nice tourney.
