What's the transfer rule within the BSC?
Urban legend references something called the "Grady Bennett Rule". That legend says that an inter-conference transfer loses two years of eligibility.
Here's a post mslacat made back in 2007 when Eric Stoll was transferring from ISU to UM:
In all BSC sports, a student-thlete who receives athletically-related funancial aid and transfers directly to another BSC institution must fulfill a residence requirement of one full academic year (two full semesters or three full quarters excluding summer term) before competing. During that period the student-athlete shall not be offered, provided or have arranged directly or indirectly any earned or unearned athletically-related financial aid.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I don't blame Daum for leaving UM one bit, I wouldn't want to play for griz fans either... All you need to do is look at the 15 page thread ripping Daum and the new Rape thread just below, those guys need to find lives outside of bashing teenagers and perpetuating rape culture.
I don't think anyone over there is bashing Daum. It's mostly all hands on deck defending Stitt.
Seems like everyone thinks he's lazy, and has an attitude problem. I've seen that from several posters, I've also seen the swords drawn for Stitt... which I think is great, because I see that guy burning every bridge in MT.
I will say I see a lot....too much.....Daum bashing over there. And Griz1st, it may not be 15 pages, but please do tell us that no one is bashing him at all because they are. It has devolved into a 75/Box argument now, so there's at least 3 pages of that fun stuff.
Ughhhh.....That's a lot of reading (for me at least.....short attention span) Typical (few) posters with their opinions. It happens everywhere....including here. Again, best of luck to Dalton.

I wonder if Daum regrets changing his decision from MSU to um?

Well, I did read it, and came away with the impression that there weren't "few" over there bashing him. There were "quite a few" that are buying into this lazy or prima dona crap. I really was pretty surprised at how many are going that route. Almost always when someone leaves the program, almost everyone over there is wishing them luck. Stitt has really become a polarizing thing over there.

People are probably bashing him because someone is bashing the coaches over him leaving. Those that want to support the coaches see Stitt being blamed, so they then have to find another fault and in this case it's Daum.
To a lesser extent I also think if it wasn't Daum, no one would care. He not only was considered one of the top players recruited in 2015, but he also flipped from MSU to UM. UM fans really wanted Daum to stick it to MSU on the field and now he's let them down by quitting and they're making him pay for it.
What's really weird is that Daum said he's unhappy and doesn't feel like part of the team. Normally that means someone has caused your unhappiness. Yet the fans are saying it has nothing to do with the coaches or players (the team). How do you not feel like part of the team, yet not have that be a reason you're leaving be the team? I guess he could be so unhappy (depressed) that he doesn't want to bring the team down because his mental state would be a distraction.
So he's saying he's not mentally part of the team and he recognizes that and is therefore excusing himself. That'd be my guess.

Something is going on, but you can't fault the kid, I'm sure he's doing his best. I for one would welcome him back to MSU with open arms, I think everyone else would do the same... Even if he chose UM over MSU. I wish the kid the best in life.

Whatever he is dealing with, I wish him well. First college experience can be overpowering, without the Athletic Dept.'s various requirements.

Won't be knowing that until the semester is over...likely.
