Sorry but your smack about Cat fans not seeing a real hit was very weak.
I thought it was a natural response to the Cat fan who was complaining about our safety not getting ejected for making a perfectly legal (albeit vicious) hit on EWU's QB. To each his own, I guess.

As for Mac's awesome hit, it went viral on social media and was shown on ESPN. If one griz fan wants to downplay it because the opponent was D2, well, I can live with that.

I'm not saying it wasn't a great hit - it was. It was a great hit, and one that was made possible by the fact that Ft. Lewis's QB floated the ball to his RB, leaving him in a position where he couldn't protect himself. You're going to get more opportunities to make plays like that when you play down than when you play at your level. So I'm not "downplaying" the fact that it was a great hit, but at the same time, it's probably not a coincidence that his best hit of the year came against Ft. Lewis, right?

Sure, fair enough.

i'm not necessarily disagreeing with GL, but i think statements like this are pretty weak considering we play fcs football. let's face it, aside from ourselves and fans of fcs teams...no one cares about the fcs. so when the griz put that monster hit on the app state guy years ago, i could play the same card. any fan of the big 10, big 12, sec, etc. could downplay and belittle the hit cause, well you know...it was app state! who is app state?!
big hits are big hits and it's so trivial to even have this back and forth.
news flash....griz play weak opponents every year too. do people really think the griz wouldn't be going nuts if one of their guys had a huge hit or great play against one of these inferior opponents?

As opposed to all the other trivial back-and-forth discussions that take place on this board every day, and will probably get worse as this week goes on?
Sorry...I guess I must have missed the memo - going forward, I will make sure that all Cat-Griz smack talk that I post this week meets your high standards of non-triviality and intellectual honesty.

So we went from me commenting on how I thought the hit was made to me thinking any hard hit should be an ejection to me complaining that he wasn't ejected?
I wasn't watching the game closely - had it on while I was working on some projects around the house - caught a replay right after the hit and it looked to me like he lowered his head and made initial contact with the top of his helmet. Maybe I didn't see it well. That's the main reason I posted the comment - wondering if someone would confirm or not. It certainly looks like a good hit in the still photo posted (but still photos can be an instant before or after so I guess I don't consider that conclusive). It looked like a hit that a few years ago, when they started calling them, would have been an ejection, but IMO they went way overboard that first year or so.
Either way, no big deal to me. I wasn't hoping he'd get ejected; just curious if anyone else saw it the way I did.

Look...it was Cat-Griz week. I was talking some good-natured smack (or at least that was my intent). Obviously a few people didn't take it that way (as evidenced, most notably, by the fact that I ended up being called an "idiot" by one of the more level-headed posters on the board). I'm ok with that - depending on one's point of view, maybe I
was being an idiot, or maybe people were taking me a little too seriously. Either way, I hope there's no hard feelings.

if you're talking about me, which you likely are because you said "level-headed", I never called you an idiot. I said i'm used to idiots on this board so you don't have to run anything by me. ...

No hard feelings whatsoever. Yep, to be expected on Cat/Griz week. Which also goes to show that the hit must have been good. If it was a bad call by the ref, in favor of the griz, there would obviously have been some Cat fans on here discussing it.
