Hmm? Yeah, it um don't want one of their own on the board I reckon us MSU folks can find another Bobcat to fill the spot if we have to. I think Williams went to um for a couple years and taught there too. The BOR has been doing OK by me the last few years. I think MSU has the most regents already. A destruction of Bobcats!

Isn't UM a journalism school, where your thoughts and the expression of your thoughts are encouraged? Seems to be hypocritical to ruin a guys career because he said something negative about the UM football program. It's a shame really to be judged on a tongue and cheek comment, when from the people I have talked to, say the good he has done exceeds the bad by far.
The vote was almost completely along party lines with Republicans voting against Williams.
So Republicans didn't like his "THUG" quote in the NYT, and Democrats don't care about it.
Maybe I'm more of a Democrat than I originally thought. I respect Williams for speaking his mind, and given his CV, would not had voted against him if given the chance.
Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

For some reason I doubt the voting had much at all to do with the thug quotes. Democrats voted for Williams because Williams is a Democrat, and Republicans went against Williams because Williams gave them a plausible reason to vote against the Democrat. I am yet more convinced that this was the case given the partisan shenanigans that went on in the Senate this afternoon...

And O.J. beat Nichole because "he loved her".
Wait a minute, wasn't OJ found "innocent", just like JJ

When looking at just main campus to main campus: yes.
does that mean that um claims it by counting the vo-tech students?
Typically both UM and MSU count their two year enrollment when posting numbers. MSU's enrollment is 14,660 (including the 228 Gallatin College students). UM's enrollment is 14,946 (including the 2,467 Missoula College students). When comparing main to main campus MSU has 14,432 vs UM's 12,479.

But I'll settle for someone from MSU Northern.
Pat Williams was one of three regents nominated to fill three spots, two "regular" regent spots and one student regent spot. The other two nominated are both from MSU, I was there at the initial hearing and heard both speak - impressive guys well versed in the realm of academia. The student regent really impressed me, sharp kid - to say the least, he's headed to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship.

Thanks for everything you did to keep Williams from being a regent. I'm sure you'll be happy to get back to breaking down the positions of UM's football team and its opponents now, eh?

It's surprising, and freaking awesome all at the same time.
We could all learn something from this.
Yes, BW's grassroots effort to make sure a man that represented no ones interest but his own was thrown out, was absolutely fabulous. It wasn't expected that his desired result would be achieved, but when you stand on the right side of an issue and you stand up for what you believe, you can prevail
Wahlberg gives me hope that the White House's assault on the Constitution will be nullified by the will of the people.

Yeah, that Obama better not go calling UM's football team a bunch of thugs or he's toast. Bite a girl on the leg, get siht-faced and crash through someone's yard, or beat the crap out of some frat boy and he'll get a second chance, hell, even if he rapes someone we'll be OK with his lawyer saying he's still a good guy, but don't you dare call our rival thugs. Eat siht Everyone, Go Griz Go!!! That's right. I just got done watching Real Time with Bill Maher and I'm still riding the high or his big smartass goods.

Yeah, I don't buy PW's "out of context" way out of what he said. Yes, there is SOME truth to what he said, but how he said it, painted the whole program that way which is completely unfair to the kids at UM that work their a$$ off and make good decisions in the community. They did have a problem, but I'm confident most of that is behind them now.
Wasn't it you who championed the cause to be gracious to our rivals and respect their trying times while avoiding the cheap insults? So the cheap insults are ok now? Just because PW said them? Come on Tom
Williams was and has been an arrogant prick who did what benefits himself without concerning himself about those that he represents or how his actions might benefit others. He deserved every bit of this.
Walberg set out to ensure neither MSU nor UM had to deal with this prick. I thank him for that. Lets not pretend that PW wouldn't defame MSU at some point given the opportunity. I'd rather not take that chance.
How Walberg did this is inspiring. As I stated above. Obummer is attacking the 1st,2nd,4th,&5th amendments to the Constitution currently. Walbergs methods and success gives me hope that We The People will prevail with those battles.

Yes, it sure was. I said to take it easy on their fans because they're going through a tough time. A tough time that is beyond they're control. I'm sure they can see the humor in what I said. A little levity is good once in a while and I couldn't have been more obvious in that. Ya know, the whole Bill Maher reference. If they can't take it, well that's just another reason to feel bad for them. But something tells me you're not really upset with anything I said about UM's fans.
Like you and Brint, I'm glad Williams didn't get confirmed, but for different reasons. I'll let you in on a little secret, it's the same reason I like reading your posts.
You realize that not everyone associated with UM wanted Williams to be rejected, right? ASUM, and I would imagine quite a few people on the academic side of UM, were strongly behind Williams.
