Though I'd agree with you Tom, it is not something that can be legislated. I would also not disagree with anyone who chose to not show compassion at this time because there are constant reminders like this one from "Sportin' Life".

I agree. All I have heard on this site is that there is no evidence and it was an angry girl friend seeking revenge. If that is not the case then fine, expell him. But if it turns out to be true where do you go from there. Anyone can make up any acqusation they want and a player loses his scholarship?

I will guarantee you that there is more to it than just an accusation. There is more information that what shows up in the paper or on egriz or Bobcat Nation.
I have heard that he is not the individual of high moral fiber that some would like to believe. It goes beyond the accusation that has been made public in the papers. I would guess that most everyone will never know the full story.

A number of things to remember here, in fairness to Jordan Johnson. He has still never been charged with any crime, much less convicted. The student conduct hearings are nothing but a kangaroo court. A student has no right to be represented by an attorney, while the "prosecution" is run by George Couture, the dean of Students. Couture, by he way is a total dick. There is no ability for the accused to subpoena witnesses, so, Johnson couldn't force the testimony of any of the investigating officers. There is no presumption of innocence. The standard of proof is not beyond a reasonable doubt. The so called jury is not a jury at all, but are picked by the administration. The rules of evidence are not used, so any amount of hearsay and rumor can come in.

In short, these hearings are a joke, with no due process whatsoever. There is a very real possibility that JJ is being made a scapegoat here by the administration so it can look like it's doing something.

The conspiracy freak side of me wants to believe that this news was released at the beginning of a long weekend on purpose. If the weather had been a bit nicer we'd all be out fishing and camping. If you have to release information, at least release it when the time is to your favor. It's hard for anybody to call Micheal Savage on a saturday....

I disagree. Reporters are always waiting to scoop everyone else....Now they may put it up with a "Coming tomorrow, more details" tag (or something like that), but nothing on the Breaking News portion of any of the MT news sites is odd.
Like I said, I'm not saying it's true or not....just odd tome.
Maybe someone with some journalist experience like TomCat could chime in.

My guess is that there is no one around willing or able to confirm anything concrete is why you have not seen much on it. I doubt um is going to do a press release on it. I would imagine they try and keep stuff like this internal as much as possible.

Kayla Anderson tweeted that President Engstrom needs to confirm the board's decision to expel and that confirmation has yet to take place. Once that happens, Im sure the news will be all over it.

UM will almost certainly put out a press release on it, if Engstrom confirms the decision. Colorado State recently expelled three football players and the school went public with the information pronto. UM would open itself up to a lot of criticism if it tried to stonewall on this.
