Neither of the teams scare me in terms of the 'Cats hosting both. EWU on the other hand looked really good despite losing to Oregon. Kupp is probably the best WR to ever play in the Big Sky.

Did West end up out of game for Eastern?

It will be interesting to see what the poll voters do with the Griz this week....

Their D didn't look so great, so most likely a nail biting shoot out. EWU's O doesn't seem to have missed a step without VA.

Up to number 2 and back down to number 14 all in one poll week.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

How many games have the griz won this way? Esp under Hauck. All I can do is laugh.

Too many to count.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

EWU will be a tough game. Also concerns now about ISU, No Dak and Portland at. NAU won also.

The key to stopping the griz is pressuring their qb. He can't make throws when pressured and they have no run game. Pretty simple formula for such an innovative offense.

it was never the 4th down that was innovative. I don't know who is saying that but it's not the case.
griz fans taught us that last week.
Here's some innovatation:

Poly was 4-6 on 4th down conversions
Griz were 0-3

Yep. And keep the safeties deep and facing the QB to pick off all those overthrows.

That's funny, the griz were stitty on 4th downs. Mr Stitt has some growing to do, and NO, he won't be going FBS after this year...

They still have a fun team to watch. Nice defense for um, but the offense is not so highflying as they think!
I think the play count probably evened out in the second half. Must have been why the griz defense was gassed on that last CP drive. Seriously, exciting game to watch.
92 plays-exactly the same as the NDSU game. But here's the rub: with a 2-1 ration of pass to run, the Griz are averaging 5.45 yards per play, which is awful. As in, putrid and embarrassingly low. Gus is averaging about 6.5 yards per attempt (a "good game" clocks in around 10 ypa)

The Griz are more legit that I guessed two weeks ago, but the Griz O has a long way to go.

On the other hand, holding poly to 330 yards of rushing is really impressive, especially with the DL looking small and thin. There's a lot of football left to be played here: I'm really interested in seeing how the Griz travel next week. Last year they were a dramatically worse road team (undefeated at home I think but under .500 on the road)

I'm also really interested in seeing how the Griz can hold up for 180 snaps per game. That is going to take a toll on the o-line and put more pressure on the D. The Griz offense looks to be leaning really heavily on Jones & Henderson + Counts & Nguyen. Thats a lot of wear and tear on your skill guys.

BSC definitely looked good this weekend. I know it's a plus for playoffs seeding ect. Next week could go a long way for us as a conference. EWU vs NIU, I know it's crazy but Weber actually competed against Oregon State only down 13-7 in the 4th so if they could knock of NDSU. Southern Utah almost beat Utah State and they play SDST. Sets up the BSC very nice if we could get a few of those.

Exactly, just because it's novel (um/stitt O ) doesn't make it better. The games are entertaining now at least.

Still high on stitt. Very sloppy game that looked more like a team installing a new offense. All goals still in front of them. Will be very battle tested come conference play! Now go get liberty! Go Griz

But but but when was the last time you saw a team go 4-6 on 4th down in a game?! Innovation!!

It was a good game. Even though the Griz lost, I have to say watching the triple option is a guilty pleasure for me. I thought the Griz D played over all well enough to win, and especially made some big plays in the second half. On the other hand the Poly QB didn't seem to want to pitch very much. That was understandable later in the game when it was raining, but early on I was a bit puzzled. I thought stretching the defense a few times might have really got things going for them. The fullback dive was working pretty well for them though, so who am I to argue.

The Griz offense showed the downside of that sort of scheme. The Griz were lousy in the red zone last year, and they might end up being worse this year. Hopefully they figure out a few good scoring plays that work a bit more consistently. I would be happier with a power football type of offense, but I can see a few glimmers of why Stitt likes this offense.

Hats off to Poly; I didn't give them much of a chance with getting the ball with little time and no timeouts in the rain being an option team, but they did what they needed to do.
