If you are going to claim that the lack of support is just because you had a bad team, then give some evidence that shows you will have better support should the team improve. What were attendance #'s like in Div. II when you had good teams? What other reason do you have to insist that should the teams be better you will have an outpouring of support? Portland St. has had recent success in the Big Sky in Basketball and had some good teams recently in football and still lags in attendance--and they are in a major city not merely close to one. I would be happy to see No. Col. prove this wrong and I will be the first to say I was wrong if they do, but right now with the history we have seen in the Big Sky I am just not that optomistic. Sorry if that hurts, just being honest.GoBears wrote:Community support? NDSU has, but with SDSU in football doesn't hold much. SDSU and NDSU had good travelling fans that showed me they have great support, No. Col. didn't have that. In addition the home attendance numbers bear out the same thing. Nice and classy!
You want NDSU and SDSU instead? Fine by me but we have better facilities then SDSU (with the exception of their b-ball arena). They haven't made any football postseason apperances since the 1960's. And do you really want to travel to Fargo ND in November? NDSU doesn't even have their own football stadium, they rent it from the city. Plus they play in a dome!
Northern Colorado, what an asset!

We usually had about 7,000 to 8,000 a game when we were winning in D2 if I remember correctly. Not great but not horrible for d2. In 2005 we averaged over 7,000 and that was for a team that only won 4 games. SDSU averaged abou 5,000 that season and they had a better team.kmax wrote:If you are going to claim that the lack of support is just because you had a bad team, then give some evidence that shows you will have better support should the team improve. Seriously, this has nothing to do with class, but if you want to play that nothing I can say is gonna change it I guess.GoBears wrote:BTW, I thought bobcat fans were classy, especially after all the great treatment we recieved after Adam Matthews died and we played you guys. You've got to be kidding. "We were beating you" and "We almost beat you". Fact is, you didn't. A loss is a loss. And who cares who owns the stadium? As long as there is football being played, it doesn't matter to me.GoBears wrote:You guys sure are talking a lot of ****** for being school that we were 1 play away from beating you in football last year, when we had about 7 scholarships less then you (in fact, I think we beat you in every statistical categorie in the game) and we and beating you 3 years ago in our first year in 1AA when we had like 50 scholarships. I was racked over the coals so to speak from some fan from Iowa about referring to Northern Iowa was NIU. Boy did I catch hell!!!Oops .. sorry not UNC (So as not to anger the Tar Heel fans ).
NCU it is!
Alright, alright, enough already. Jeeez. It's UNI and Northern Illinois in NIU. Then I notice in a copy of TSN (The Sporting News) a photo of RB Garrett Wolfe with NIU on his helmet, with a caption in the body of the article saying UNI's RB G. Wolfe. Even they can't keep it straight!!! And then they repeat the assocation in another edition no less. And they got offices in St. Louis?

Re: Northern Colorado, what an asset!
I bitched the day they were added. What's even worse is they proved me right... I would have rather been made to look like an asshole, and have UNC be tough... a good addition, than what they are now.mslacat wrote:I still bang my head against the wall every time I think about how the Big Sky conference added Northern (never call them UNC) Colorado over the Dakota schools!! What a short sighted, bone head move that was.vike_king wrote:I checked out the box scores from last night games with Northern Colorado and was amazed..........at the attendance.
1,267 showed up in Bozeman for a womens game (good for them) while only 958 attended the mens game in Greeley!
When your men's program can't draw more than that for a home game they should be shown the door......or am I naive? I have never really looked at other schools attendace figures.
Thoughts.

Go Bears, you are the classless idiot. And to claim you almost beat us in football is laughable. We were dominating you in all phases, then the ref takes a TD away from Jefferson on the gift interception call. It gives a little momentum, and you take advantage and go down and score to make the game a lot closer than it really was.GoBears wrote:BTW, I thought bobcat fans were classy, especially after all the great treatment we recieved after Adam Matthews died and we played you guys. Sorry GoBears, but if you want clasless, all you have to do is look in the mirror. Check your facts - because that is what is being posted in this thread.GoBears wrote:BTW, I thought bobcat fans were classy, especially after all the great treatment we recieved after Adam Matthews died and we played you guys. You dominated us? Are you stupid? Here's the stats from the game. Pretty even steven, although we outgained you in total offensive yards.old wise one wrote:Go Bears, you are the classless idiot. What else would Coach dare say about the officiating in this conference? He's already been suspended once for calling a spade a spade. Would you have preferred something such as "I can't comment about poor calls?"GoBears wrote:But my point is that Ole Wise one isn't so wise. He said MSU dominated that game and the stats don't hold up to that. As for the call on Jefferson, your own coach said it was the right call. Where are you Ole Wise One?
A little bird has told me that in addition to extremely close review by our conference's officials supervisors this coming year, the NCAA will be more closely examining a few of our crews. Should be fun times, as old wise one attempted to state that for whatever reason, we were kept closer scorewise than the game actually was (as were several others.) Why do you think we got to host a playoff game in spite of our record?

Your team has zero conference wins in football so far, and one BSC win each in men's and women's basketball, so I really could care less about your reasons as to why you belong in the Big Sky.GoBears wrote:But my point is that Ole Wise one isn't so wise. I believe Kramer just said that to avoid any ramifications from the BSC and the NCAA on criticism of the referees.GoBears wrote:But my point is that Ole Wise one isn't so wise. I listened to that game and you were not "dominating" that game as old gay one says you were.Cat Grad wrote:What else would Coach dare say about the officiating in this conference?
