i think the prevaling perception that the griz d-line is a little smallish...quick but on the small side...
additionally...that position is thin...not many bodies to go a full season without wearing down...it starts to show about game seven...it's what happened to them last year...maybe they'll swith to a 3-4 to use more linebackers...
these points have been made by others...and i've read the same concerns by griz posters on "the other board"...i'm not sure why i reposted it...hmmmm....

scat for brains...are you returning to your juvenile form....????
it is true that i have read numerous posts on "the other board" tob expresssing the same issues...concerns...re...the griz d-line...
instead of posting something stupid you could counter my post with your opinion of the griz d-line depth...here's your big chance...
so what do you say...???

Not trying to start a pissing match but .... you guys have a team to be excited about. Why all the rejoicing about how the Griz offense may be terrible? Why are there only 10 replies on the Cat scrimmage thread & over 20 on this one? Seems to me you should be a bit more excited about the product your team will put on the field. Just my 2 cents.

Anacondagriz.... have to agree with you. But we always like to keep tabs as such on our biggest rival. But I sure would like to spend me time on this board discussing the quality of the Bobcats too. I still think as a unit the Bobcat defensice is second to none in the Big Sky... maybe the nation. If things turn out the way they SHOULD.... the Bobcats will get the automatice berth to the playoffs and the Griz will get an at large berth.... that is the STATE of the way things should be.
Montana State Fighting Bobcats reign supreme

AG: I suspect most Cats know how good we're going to be and most of our questionmarks for the year have been answered to our satisfaction. We're excited for the year and can't wait to watch our kids and on the other hand, we suspect your amazing run may have run it's course. But like they say, that's why they play the games. Your staffs in the past have done an outstanding job teaching your kids how to make some timely breaks--special teams and defensive turnovers have certainly contrubuted to your success and it is something that's taught. You should thank your coaches for preparing you kids as well as they have. And you know deep down, there's many of us who had the shirts years ago that read: My two favorite teams are the Montana State Bobcats and whoever is playing the Grizzlies

All your ?s are answered? Doesn't it bother you that every year the Cats manage to lose at least 1 game they should win, which ultimately costs them a playoff berth or a home game? How has that ? been answered?Cat Grad wrote:AG: I suspect most Cats know how good we're going to be and most of our questionmarks for the year have been answered to our satisfaction. Happens to a lot of teams. It's called parity in the league and the Big Sky's overall team play has really improved over the last 2-3 years. But yeah, we win that Portland State game last year down there and we are in the playoffs. It's that simple. I seem to remember the Griz losing down there to the last time they played them. They were able to overcome that by playing a cupcake schedule that year though I think. I say keep one Div II game on the schedule every year as the playoff comittee just looks at overall losses and not quality wins.anacondagriz wrote:All your ?s are answered? It is only August and there is already a high level of sensitivity! Sheesh, what will things be like when November rolls around. When the season ends, 500 will be an important number in Missoula. Yds for the leading rusher and maybe(?)receiver as well. Swogger's completion average, .500. They will probably be above that record wise because of the friendly confines. But the o-line doesn't provide a lot of inspiration there. If they can't control the line of scrimmage, the deense may give up that many yards in a game. It will be fun to seee how The Big Sky unfolds!

I agree this thread is in the wrong forum.BobcatLionFan wrote:Why is this thread on the Bobcat Athletics board?
Shouldn't it be on "College Sports" or "Smack"?
It seems like it doesn't affect the Bobcats until late in the season?
And any post like this will bring out the worst on both sides

yeah, I should have put this in the general forum. But I do not understand why talking about our great rival is a problem for you, AnacondaGriz. If this thread has garnered a latge number of posts, that must mean that the topic has interest to many people. Is that not what these boards are about anyway?
I perused your board, and I almost choked in my coffee this morning reading all of the flowery posts by Griz fans who attended the scrimmage. Isn't it amazing how loyalty to a team can cause people to ignore the facts. Some of your posters were saying that Swogger looked great. Are you kidding me? His throws were consistantly off target. What is it about 4-12 for 46 yards that is difficult to understand?
The Griz dynasty has been over for a couple of years now. It is just that Griz fans have not figured it out yet.

Wow. If I were only to have read this board, I'd surmise that the cats are at least 70 points better than the Griz, who apparently won't see a first down until sometime in early November.
But I'm certain that everyone on here knows more about football than all nine Big Sky Conference head coaches. Or more than ADs at I-AA institutions. Or more than Street and Smiths. More than Lindy's. More even than Otto Fad and Matt Dougherty.
Keep on believin' the Griz suck, cat fans. However, you'll have to pardon me if I go with the expert's opinons.

Hey, he's a positive guy, and I don't necessarily agree with everything he says. But you've got to admit, he supports his contentions at least. I'm not saying his contentions aren't open to debate, but he supports his position.Like Ronbo?
And let's be honest, the vast majority of the people posting in this thread couldn't name more than a handful of players on the Griz two-deep, and only one poster saw the scrimage so how can they state emphatically that the cats will be deeper than the Griz (especially when they talk about your depth at receiver?? Zero returning catches??). The whole thread just stikes me as a little screwy.
