As a flatlander myself I pay attention to who plays in Missoula that has the same roots as myself.
Past, Greg Hardy from Fairview with little brother Ben now, McGinnes(sp) from Sidney for 2017, and Shayne Cochran from Culbertson, and of current interest
Brady Gustafson whose parents are from Sidney. ( There is another QB from Idaho or WA whose parents are from Sidney)
I digress due to the fact I hate when anyone in my back yard goes to the left coast. ](*,)

On BG it will be the same as last year. UM will go the way BG goes for the day.
He through well against NDSU first game with crazy help from his WRs. HOLY COW look at the highlights.

Same against MSU last year. He needed to be knocked to the turf hard and often by us and our defense discontinued pressure on him pretty early.

NDSU got pressure on him consistently where he never found rhythm the second go around.

Will be the same this year unless BG takes another shot and someone else has to fill in.

That's a bold claim considering Tyrone Holmes was a 6th-round NFL draft pick and a few other contributors graduated.
I don't think it's a bold statement all. Last season, our front four consisted of Tyrone Holmes, Caleb Kidder, a converted fullback who never played defensive line Jamal Wilson, and Derek Crittenden. We were also pretty thin playing a true freshman in Kyle Davis. The biggest loss is obviously Holmes.

Now Kidder has slid to DE and is pre season everything. He will pick up where Holmes left off. Guarantee it. He will get drafted as well. Ryan Johnson played a lot last year and will be the other end and make a name for himself. We finally got some beef in JUCO transfer Brandt Davidson. He is being compared to run stuffer beast Tonga Takai. He'lll shut down the middle and draw the double teams. Peevey played a lot and is back, another JC transfer in Mykes Mckee Osibodu and we all of a sudden have some depth. Rotate in Tucker Schye who will blow it up this year and Jesse Sims and the defensive front is very much a strength. I bet Davidson ends up all conference. I bet Schye will be the next Griz break out star.

I have seen it. The front is much improved.

Cool, should be fun to watch the show. I happen to think you might have lost your two best D coaches however, but what do I know - I'm just a dumb cat fan. At any rate, the proof will be in the pudding.

Just glanced at your stats from last year, and looks like you had 43 sacks and 33 forced fumbles, so those seem like decent stats to watch this year. If your D line is "Much Improved" over last year, those numbers should jump to something like what, 50 sacks and 40 forced fumbles? Or you can look at the running D stats if that works better, depends on other factors. Looking at Tyrone Holmes alone - he had 87 tackles, 24 TFL, 18 sacks, 9 QB hurries, and 3 forced fumbles. Will watch to see how much above and beyond Kidder ends up stat wise.

Holmes was an absolute beast. His numbers were off the charts and earned him the FCS Defensive Player of the Year and an NFL roster, as you know. Would be very hard for anyone to match that "individual" production. If anyone can, I think Kidder is the guy. Heck if Kidder can get 80% of that production he will have an incredible year worthy of a lot of accolades.

My bigger point was that "as a whole" I feel much better (and so do the coaches and folks in the know) about our defensive front. Since anything I write always gets met with skepticism, here is what Brint wrote about them after the first scrimmage and I know you guys respect his objective opinions as do I:

This D-line is wicked. Caleb Kidder, Ryan Johnson, and Tucker Schye were all over the place. Kidder with some devastating hits. On one play he bull-rushes Jackson Thiebes right into Chad Chalich to force a fluttering pass that almost gets picked. Ryan Johnson had multiple sacks but more impressively some great open field tackles on wide receivers. Johnson's athleticism is forgotten with his size but he's a sure tackler. Schye was with the 1s and 2s, but obviously had his best success against the 2nd string OL. The interior guys of Davidson and Peevey did their jobs absorbing double teams and freed up a lot of lanes for blitzing backs and the D-ends. Reggie Tilleman as a backup DT had a sack as well today.

Error-free play the emphasis of Montana's second scrimmage

MISSOULA — This weekend marks the final open test drive for the Montana football team. The next time the car comes out of the garage, following some fine-tuning and touch-ups of course, the Griz hope to be ready for the open road.

I don't know that I'd exactly call BW objective when it comes to the Griz. But I do like his write ups and he does a great job in terms of analysis. Just a lot of hype as usual, some of it turns out to be as good as you thought, and sometimes it falls well short of what you thought it would be. Again, I just wanted to throw those stats out there and we'll take a look at the end of the season and see if Kidder ends up being the best defensive end in the history off your program, and we'll see if your D Line turns out to be "Much Better" than your D line from 2015.

That's very true for every team in camp. Eliminate mistakes and penalties.

Could it be the UM defense looks good because the offense is bad? How does anyone ever know if a one unit is good? Especially if the other unit is coming off a below average year? Same could be said for MSU on offense.

Yes, still some concerns on offense but I would be just as worried if they were putting up points left and right against our defense in the scrimmages. Havent been able to make it to them but know what several that have. Sounds like the QBs don't have much time with our 1st or 2nds on D. Not sure what to make of that other than (from what I hear) our D in general if everyone stays healthy will be a handfull for any BSC team.

Brint does an outstanding job...and has for a while now. He is a must read as an E-griz poster...which can be hard to find over there.

I think I know the aunt and uncle of that kid from the west coast (qb). They have a ton of nice things to say.

Scheshhhhh!!! This is a friendly topic here. Just because griz fans are optimistic about their team and Cat fans are hopefully pessimistic about the griz FB team doesn't mean its anything you need to get offended by. Seems like some good stats were thrown out and I think this thread has made for great discussion. You don't need to take it so harshly if people on the Bobcat fan forum critique the griz.

Has never played a down in the Big Sky and already the best in the league. Kupp is expected to play in the NFL. No wonder we hate Griz fans.

First, what would you know about talent? You constantly run your mouth about cat players and you have exactly 3 maybe 4 on the entire team that would crack a starting position on most BSC teams. (Bignell, Neale, Newell, Flynn)
You are not exactly a wealth of knowledge when it comes to evaluating players, in fact you are not good at most things, its obvious reading your posts.

Kupp may or may not play in the NFL (I doubt it because hes white)

Second its easy for a guy like me to see talent......didnt you see the other attack cat in a previous thread being jealous that I am great at everything? His words not mine.......and I dont give a damn what 3rd place hates. I only look forward not behind
