Re: Kramer to Missoula?
Kramer has too much baggage. As someone else said they need a coach that's sqeaky clean like Marshall. Let's be honest he has been with ash and knows how to run a clean respectful program, has coached two buck winners which the Griz are all about defense ( how many buck winners has Kramer coached) and it would be a huge coup getting Ashs right hand man away from your biggest rival. Gee I hope no Griz fans read this I may have given them the idea

Cosmo Kramer sounds good to me or maybe George Castansa. You know he worked for the Yankees and while it was a different sport he does bring with him some good ideas and experience especially in the area of uniforms and we all know how the Griz like making a fashion statement with their uniforms.

If you're looking for someone with a little authority, I'm your man. I have as little as anyone!

Well, he tried to get the job at University of Idaho (and he played for Idaho, didn't he?), so he definitely had that connection.77matcat wrote:Even when he was coaching Cats I got the feeling he was still connected to Idaho.

We all see what you did there! Let's see how the next few weeks play out and then watch the development of all the young kids on the roster being redshirted before we get too hasty. I sincerely hope the second half last week is a harbinger of things to come.catgrad05 wrote:Kramer has too much baggage. As someone else said they need a coach that's sqeaky clean like Marshall. Don't pick at them...they used to be in the same conference as the Big Zeros and for whatever reason they have this fascination with the quacker coaches...Joe Bobcat wrote:Cosmo Kramer sounds good to me or maybe George Castansa. I just think it is wishful thinking from the egrizzers. Wouldn't um have to buy out Kramers contract since he signed a 3 year extension?

I'd rather have Pease or Leipold anyway, both of whom are apparently interested. Baldwin's name has been thrown out there too, but I imagine he has his eyes on an FBS job at some point.

Re: Kramer to Missoula?
From a few Griz fans, not all. Count this Griz fan as one with no interest in Kramer.
His teams for you and for EWU overachieved to a point and then severely under achieved. Be perfectly honest with yourselves. How different are the Grizzlies this year than most of his later teams with the Cats? Need to win the last game to sneak in to the playoffs, 7 or 8 wins, never the complete dominant team. Ash has taken MSU to a level of consistency that Kramer never could in my opinion. Deeper, more consistent... I think there are a few posters on egriz that want him, not many...
As the Cats job will be the next time it is open, the Griz job is one of the most attractive positions at this level. Good stadiums, good support, great fans. UM, and now MSU, are in a different class. Kramer himself left a better team at EWU because he felt the Cats could be a better job. A few, not all, of the posts in this thread act like the Griz are 0-11 and have absolutely zero decent players left on their roster. UM has had very respectable recruiting classes the last few years. Sure there is no proven QB, but MSU didn't have a proven QB coming in to the season this year, and that worked out alright. Not saying we have a Prukop on our roster, I have no idea. But neither do you. Maybe the Griz don't win the Big Sky next year, or even the year after that. But if you were betting your house on whether or not UM makes the playoffs 2 of the next 3 years, you are taking them making the playoffs. Heck, the Griz this season are one win from the playoffs with a TERRIBLE offensive scheme, an antiquated offensive mind set, a very young/inexperienced offensive line...
I personally hope we go outside the family lines. It seems like there are some exciting young coaches that may be interested. It could be a lot of fun. I know, I know. This is a Cat message board so I don't expect any Griz Koolaid, but it doesn't mean I can't respond.
Drive safely for those of you who are coming over.

“I think I've heard every coach that's coached against the Grizzlies this year sit up here and say, ‘You know, we're better than those guys, and we can beat those guys,' ” said Kramer. “You know what? The truth is you ain't. So shut. The heck. Up.

Mike Kramer has about as much of a chance at coaching UM as Ryan Leaf.
