According to one of the egrizzers that was saying TRod was going to be a grizz the ruling is coming out within 4 weeks and grizz fans will be greatly relieved. "All is well. Nothing to see here. Move along."rtb wrote:What prompted this? Is there an expectation the decision is coming soon?Bay Area Cat wrote:What are your guesses? Death penalty? Probation? Nothing? A letter of commendation?

Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
Good to know. I can honestly say I don't read eGriz ever so I was did a quick Missoulian and google search to see if something was out there about an announcement coming and couldn't find anything. It seems like they have to wrap up the investigation and all that soon.[cat_bracket] wrote:According to one of the egrizzers that was saying TRod was going to be a grizz the ruling is coming out within 4 weeks and grizz fans will be greatly relieved. My guess:
3 to 4 lost scholarships for 2 years
Loss of some allowable practice time
4 years probation
Vacating of some games, possibly 4 or 5 from 2011 and maybe 3 from 2012
No post season ban

Why would they just vacate some games from a season?BWahlberg wrote:My guess:

Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
I feel like the punishments BWahlberg listed are too harsh. But to answer your question allcat, they may vacate some games because of GK and Tru playing in them. If they find anything it will be "lending" them money for bail/attorney fees.allcat wrote:Why would they just vacate some games from a season?BWahlberg wrote:My guess:

- Food/Soda/Snacks at tailgates after the games (I know cash equivalent has been donated back already, enforced by the NCAA. This is the one violation that I do know of and have heard of, what I'm not sure on is if the repayment/donation to charities that the players had to do was "enough" or if there's addl punishment coming on that)
The rest of this is speculation based on rumors and chatter:
- Bail $ and some possible comped legal services after Kemp/Tru tazer arrest (which I think will cause the vacating of games, the ones they participated in after)
- I'd heard a rumor of maybe one accidental call that was a pocket dial to recruit in a dark period.
- I'd bet there's been rumor/evidence of some comped meals at few local restaurants.
- Heard rumor but could never confirm of a few people that let players come to their house and use their washer and dryer (which isn't allowable - however I don't know if these people were just fans or actual boosters, not sure if that's even true).

Re: Place your bets -- UM NCAA investigation predictions
It would involve a player or players participating in games they should not have. Its a guess based on some info I have.allcat wrote:Why would they just vacate some games from a season?BWahlberg wrote:My guess:

The snacks/hotdogs/whatever is something that both the boosters and players should know better about, but not anything scandalous, certainly.BWahlberg wrote:Long series of small stuff (and some not so small)[cat_bracket] wrote:What does this punishment stem from?BWahlberg wrote:My guess:

The legal advice/bail/etc was poorly handled from the get-go by all involved. The "one quarter suspension" was a joke and everyone knew it. That, IMO was the start of Pflu's downfall.
The pocket dial, if true, should be considered an accident unless an actual conversation occurred. Depends on call length whether the "pocket dial" story holds water.
Comped meals are a no-no and players should know better.
The washer-dryer thing would never occur to me! Seems nit-picky!
Obviously, there are the DUIs, the Donaldson case, and so on. Not sure what weight they carry with the NCAA.
I honestly hope the Griz, the University and the boosters learn from this and move on and that any punishment is fair and doesn't cripple the Griz program.
Rivals or not, a healthy Griz program is good for us. Healthy meaning successful both on and off the field.
GO CATS!
