Back to the original question, I would not take any of my relatives to a Big Sky basketball game.

If it's any consolation, Weber did beat Cal Poly by 42 in round 1 of the CIT :D

Ouch. Evidently Syracuse was a bad matchup for UM... Would WSU have done any better? I think they may have, due to their bigger point guards. Still would have lost by 20, but not 46.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

I hope you weren't one of the UM and/or Big Sky people thinking the Griz had even a remote chance...I take it your weekend is clear now? Or do you get to watch the women's team lose now? (Actually I bet they have a much better chance than men's...good luck)

Anyways, a quick google search on BPI showed me Big Sky as third to last in ranking - and the one if those two has no auto-bid. Bad bad bad. Montana/Weber/any other BSC team are lucky to not be playing 1-seeds every year.

Ride the ripple mousegriz!

In all seriousness UM, or any BSC team, isn't as good as the last five guys off the bench for Syracuse or any tourney team from one of the power conferences.

I ended up watching Braveheart. There was less blood/gore in it :)

That was a tough one. Griz came out flat and seemingly intimidated and it got worse from there. They certainly didn't give the conference much credibility. Their season was one of overcoming obstacles with a talented team that lacked physical size. All year I waited for bigger teams to take advantage but the heart and skill level of guys like Cherry/ Jamar/Ward got them through the conference and tourney....and the chance to let their weakness show up on the biggest stage.
Very proud of the Griz and what they did all year. Silver lining in all this is that TInkle is likely to stay in Missoula (and his son with Hellgate High!!!)

Tinkle is on the radar, and will get an offer to coach elsewhere after the tournament. 50% chance he takes it. Otherwise he will wait another year, then take his show to another school. He could be the next krysco, coaching wise that is. Days at U of M are numbered. Good for him, he deserves a shot at moving on to bigger and better.

So the one highlight featuring UM in the "One Shining Moment" wrap up tonight was.....

Their dance team!

Anyone out there still feel like the BSC isn't a joke when it comes to hoops? We should all move down to D2 for hoops.

Go ahead and move down. Griz intend to stay where they are. Despite the embarrassing showing this year, things really aren't that much different than they've always been. Big Sky teams are seeded low, play a game they're not supposed to win and usually come out with a loss. The NCAA tourney is the best college event of the year. I'm proud the Griz have been part of it a few times lately.

I find it interesting that the BSC is only a couple of notches from the very bottom in MBB (I believe only two conferences had a lower RPI this season, and one of those doesn't even get an auto bid), while the BSC's RPI in WBB is in the middle of the pack nationally. I have a theory for why BSC WBB is so much stronger than MBB, but I'd like to hear what the rest of you think about this.

P.S. I dare anyone to use as many acronyms in a single two-sentence post, as I just did in this one.

Maybe Huse can jog over to Gonzaga and learn from them on how to operate a successful basketball program.
