just some other interesting information. The general Contractor for Washington stadium when it was 1st built was....Martel Construction. They were really getting the business booming in the 1980's. Along with the Montana State prison in Deer lodge, they were the general contractors for the Federal reserve building in Helena. When Reno Sales stadium was undergoing its 1st renovation, new sky boxes and such on the west side, Martel was the general contractor. Bill Martell then donated the profits from that expansion, approx. $800,000 to MSU. That is why they named the field after Martel. I do not know the exact extent of involvement Mr. Washington had on building the new stadium in Missoula, other than it was certainly substantial. Moving forward to the present, the Martel family still plays a prominent role in construction in Montana, and we all know the Washington family has done amazing things, and owns large business entities all across the Unites States. We should all feel fortunate that these families help to build and support the two biggest schools in Montana, and we would be even smaller potatoes in college athletics and education without them.

The State of Montana is Bobcat country.
missoula....still just 20 miles from Montana.
