FBS QB's

Interesting looking through here for familiar names from the FCS.
Giovanni McCoy, Logan Fife, and Jack Layne all listed in the 19th and 20th tiers out of 20. Looks like Logan Fife is the only one slated to start. Gronowski expected to start for Iowa.
The grass is not always greener. Some of these guys should stop listening to some people. Fife I get leaving. Gronowski bettered himself and I can get behind that. Layne, we'll see. You would think he'd have a leg up with the staff and I know its early. McCoy...well if he stays at Idaho, who knows...3 schools now since he left Idaho and 2 of them have been this year.

The grass isn't always greener, but sometimes it is. Does Cam Ward go #1 overall in the draft if he just stays at Incarnate Word for 4 years? Certainly not. The guys like Wars and Layne that follow their coaches to FBS seem to have a pretty decent success rate. Fife was an obvious transfer when the only person who apparently couldn't see that he was UM's best QB last year was the head coach. And yeah, then there are the likes of Gevani McCoy and RJ Martinez who bounce around and never really find much success at the FBS level.

Interesting. Hearing the name Logan Fife reminded me of just how SH**** Bobby Hauck must be at developing QBs. I was going to say recruiting them... which may have some truth to it as well but there have at least been some QBs this 2nd go round that sucked under Bobby but thrived under another coach. Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking Fife, Vidlack, McDowell, Huot, Brown... I'm sure I am missing some? Wonder how long before this latest batch of their QBs... Ah Yat, Jensen, Sliter, etc., either get pushed out or leave.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Tough place to be a quarterback when from year to year you have no idea of your status. Actually for any position with such a huge reliance on the portal. High school recruiting for the Gris will suffer greatly because of it.catatac wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 11:23 amInteresting. Honestly I'm surprised how many high schoolers still commit there. I suppose they figure they'll be the "special" one that Hauck actually plays. If I knew a kid looking for a place to actually be developed and play that would be the last place I'd advise them to go. And not just because I'm a Cats fan.Mtcatfan wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 4:20 pmTough place to be a quarterback when from year to year you have no idea of your status. Re: FBS QB's
I mean I watched he'd Carroll's spring game and their incumbent senior got the most reps. So my guess is he starts. Though Huot got quite a few reps. But I dont know if you can say hes thrived under a new coach when hes just been a transfer not that long ago and will probably not start.catatac wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 11:23 amInteresting. Re: FBS QB's
I mixed two points there... bad communication. I didn't mean that all of those QBs thrived under another coach, just a subset of them did. I was just listing some QBs that didn't do well under Hauck, for whatever reason.lutecat wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 8:17 amI mean I watched he'd Carroll's spring game and their incumbent senior got the most reps.
