As many of you know, I have a background and an interest in computer simulations. To that extent, here will be each week’s matchups including Ken Massey’s computer’s national FCS rank and percent chance of winning for the favorite.

Round 1 (team, FCS rating, pct. chance)

North Dakota State #3 99.87% (mismatch of the week)
Drake #94

Sacramento State #12, 55.39%. (game of the week) Sac. 28-14 at the half. Too speedy.
North Dakota #10

Mercer #32, 52.89%

Duquesne #65
Youngstown State #13, 79.37%

Nicholls State #38
Southern Illinois #8, 76.10%

NC Central #52
Richmond #26, 66.07%

Suffice it to say, the computer does not agree with the humans, and would not have had either NDSU or SIU playing in the first round. They did match up the best team in round 1 NDSU (#3) with the poorest Drake (#94). See you next weekend, Bison.
