Re: Dante Olson
Must have been a down year for FCS defensive players, considering a majority of his tackles were 5-7 yards down field

Re: Dante Olson
Tackles are a way overrated stat. But Dante is a heck of a player and will get his shot to play on Sundays. Congrats and good luck to him.

Re: Dante Olson
I agree that his numbers were inflated but he definitely had a nose for the ball and a heck of a motor. Was right there on almost every play.

Re: Dante Olson
He will be drafted before the 5th round as long as he doesn't have a lowsy showing on his measurables (40 time, bench, cone drill). He's a hellova linebacker.
I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level

Re: Dante Olson
I personally think he is way overrated. He's an undrafted free agent and a practice roster player at best. I'm rooting for him, but he's no Alex Singleton.

I agree. Yes, their system is set up to funnel the ball to the LBs. Yes, I think that they overinflate the tackle statistic at the UM home games. But bottom line is that Olson is a VERY good player, and if he doesn't get drafted it would be very shocking.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 9:46 amI think he's a hell of a player and I'd be SHOCKED if he went undrafted.

He's a great great player, and sounds like an even better human being. I'll definitely be rooting for him.

Re: Dante Olson
But didn’t he have like 15+ tackles against us with our stat takers at home? If he had 179 tackles on the year, and half of those were away games, his production must have been just as good on the road as it was at home. I’ve watched him a few games and was blown away with how good he is.HelenaCat95 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 9:56 amI agree. Yes, their system is set up to funnel the ball to the LBs. ya, if you take away the inflated tackle stats UM has produced forever, I don't know how you can deny the kid was an absolute stud. I don't know what else you look for in a LB to be honest. He had a motor that literally would not quit. He's around the ball every single play. He has deceptive speed. He doesn't miss tackles. His football IQ is awesome. He's a stud in the weight room. And for good measure a good student and by all accounts a great kid.ibleedblue wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 2:25 pmBut didn’t he have like 15+ tackles against us with our stat takers at home? I get the whole Cat/griz thing, but I just don't see how you can watch this kid play and not be very impressed.
I wish him well at the next level.
