Have to go with "The Show" Harold Arceneaux.

Hays. It's the one that made such an impression that I still remember it.

That's the one I remember most as well. Hayes for ISU had a huge game (27 points and 12 rebounds) in a win against #2 Ucla back in '77. Does anyone remember the player from Montana that was on that team? He works as a dentist in Bozeman.

I was thinking Eric Hays of Montana. Quote from Wikipedia: "Hays is best remembered for his outstanding performance at the 1975 NCAA tournament against the powerhouse UCLA Bruins in the Sweet 16. He scored a game-high 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in the Grizzlies' 67-64 loss to the eventual national champions, who had six players that went on to play in the NBA."

Steve Hayes was a great player for Idaho State. You are right. Wikipedia again: "Idaho State went 13-1 in league play to win the regular season championship and captured their first Big Sky Tournament title to clinch a berth in the 1977 Tournament. Once there, the Bengals made the most of their opportunity. After a win over Long Beach State in the first round, Idaho State faced national power UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen. The Bruins were going for their eleventh consecutive Final Four appearance - an NCAA record. Hayes scored 27 points and recorded 12 rebounds as the Bengals upset UCLA 76-75 as Hayes was named to the All-Regional team."

Good time to be named Hay(e)s.

Maybe Brand Robinson from Manhattan?

If you are looking from an offensive standpoint, this is the only answer. 36 points against #3 seed North Carolina. Shot 54% from the field, 5 of 7 from deep.

Granted his other stats were insignificant, 3 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block.

Thanks for posting that link...pretty interesting. I recognized his name, although he was before my time, but I didn't realize he was that good. I had no idea that he was the guy who gave Dr. J his nickname. Good stuff!

On sort of a side note, I get some satisfaction from the fact that Krysko isn't even considered for this honor, even though he's one of the greatest BSC players of all time. He never played in the Big Dance though. His best chance came in 1986 when he was a senior, but 6th seeded MSU knocked off top seed UM in the championship game of the tourney. Unfortunately hoops Karma caught up to us the next year, when we were the #1 seed, and got upset by 8th seed WSU in the 1st round.
