Santa Cruz changed theirs to Mud Slugs or something similar. And what's a Golden Gopher? And Notre Dame uses a dwarf or midget for their mascot.

One of my favorites is the Cobbers from Concordia College in Moorhead MN. That's cobber as in corn cob. Fear the ear! The mascot is named Kernel.

Banana Slugs -- see Pulp Fiction.

They were originally the Sea Lions but the students didn't like that name and wanted it changed.
