On the Bobcat football site I noticed in different threads 1. PSU fired their football coach and he was formerly a fine DC at Nevada, and 2. has PSU announced the disbandment of the football program?
I really dislike ever hearing a school terminates it football program, but I'm sure it's being looked at in Portland. I know there are many reasons and theories why that program gets little to no attention in Portland, but with a huge metro population you'd think they could generate more interest. I think hiring celebrity coach Gerry Glanville a few years ago was a real attempt, but it went south fast. In 2013 PSU ranked 10th of 12 BSC schools in average attendance with 5,148 per game. It will probably be down from that this year. So. Utah (4,366) and No Color (3,823) trailed them. I truly hope they find a way back.
If they do drop football there might be an opportunity for the Bobcats to find some defensive talent. There was mention on the other thread their coach might be an excellent prospect in the event MSU needs and new DC soon. Deeply doubt that part will happen, but you have to be prepared when opportunity knocks. A combo of bringing their coach and the best of defensive talent to MSU is likely out of the question..... I'm just saying because I know someone else would.

PSU promotes the current offensive coordinator...and gives him a 12 month contract because they don't have an Athletic Director right now. What a weird situation. Why fire the current guy if you're not planning to replace him? But I guess it does mean that PSU will have football for at least one more season.

Unless of course they pull the UAB and pull the plug with no warning.
Think about it; the situations are eerily similar...
