Seminoles get gift

Post by technoCat » Sat Oct 18, 2014 9:56 pm

A little home cooking for the Seminoles. BS f@#$%$#@ing call to save the game for them. I don't know how you call pass interference on the of fence when the db has his hands inside holding onto the receiver. Way to give that pos Winston a chance a free ride to the nc. Then the stupid a$$ ESPN announcers lauding the ref for making the call. Its pretty easy to make that call with 90000 Seminoles fans screaming at them...

A bit of proof of the parking lot theory of reffing. Make the call that lets you leave the lot alive.

I agree. That DB was just as guilty for holding up that receiver as well. Should have been a non call. I can't stand Winston. Also the ESPN announcers declaring that Winston will be a millionaire in the NFL...really? I've heard his potential draft stock has been dropping.

I have no dog in the fight, so I couldn't care, but I saw the play and the replay and it was the right call. ND didn't hurt themselves with that loss though, in my opinion. That was one heck of a football game! Also, given the playoff format, it won't be as easy to get to the title game. I can't wait to see the playoffs!

Agreed, it was the right call. Fortunately for ND, they ran the same play in the first half for a touchdown and didn't get called. Pick plays are common, but to go into a blocking stance right off the line is PI. Good game overall and as much as I dislike both teams, I was pulling for ND.

It is the right call, but the wrong thing about it is that that call gets made so infrequently. It was a good game but I think the better team didn't win. Still the ND defense needed to go away from the blitz that wasn't working and defend the pass a bit better in the second half. I think we could well hear from Notre Dame again this year, and I can't imagine the Seminoles would want a rematch on a more neutral field.

Maybe you could make a case for the outside receiver but the one they called it on got mugged. Plus neither defender really tried to get outside. They picked their own guy that was responsible for Robinson just as much as the offense. Bad defensive execution is bailed out by the refs.

I HATE Florida State.

And that was the textbook definition of offensive PI. On BOTH guys. If it doesn't impact the play, you keep your flag in your pocket. But the receiver was left all alone specifically BECAUSE of the offensive PI. The right call and a no brainer.

Clearly the right call. WRs don't get to block downfield prior to a pass being thrown. Obviously a penalty.

Actually, in college they do, but only on passes that are caught behind the line of scrimmage. It makes those sissy little bubble screens a lot easier to run.

Seminoles get gift

Post by Grizlaw » Tue Oct 21, 2014 1:31 pm

I'm not a coach or a ref, but it seems to me that if Golson had thrown the ball to the receiver who was flagged, the ref would've had to have flagged FSU for either defensive holding or pass interference.

I have trouble squaring that with the receiver in question getting flagged for offensive PI. Yes, there was contact, but the argument that the FSU defender initiated it is at least as plausible (if not more so) than the other way around

I know everyone said it was the right call.....but I too agree that the defender had his hands on the receiver and they were at a standoff. The defender never did try to get around the receiver to cover Robinson, he seemed intent on keeping the receiver from running past him.
