Won't happen they barely beat us last year at home and we had no QB. They have a new head coach O and D coordinators and lost some talented guys on defense.

Not too worried about them. I don't think it will be a blow out either way but feel pretty comfortable about winning. Unless we turn the ball over a lot

100% agree. If they think JJ and crew are lighting up the Griz secondary now... wait until August 31st.
Appy has one of the best teams they've every had this year. Only the Griz could think winning against them is probable with the terrible play of their secondary. The only reason they put up a fight last year was Dan Moore. That is NOT the case this year.
They do have Trayvon Van and he is as good as advertised. He reminds me of Taiwan Jones.
Uh... No. TJ was a freak. I believe he averaged like 8 yards a carry or something stupid like that. I think TV averaged like three or something?

I'm sold. That guy is a stud. He leaves me concerned. We really won't know until after the App game, but I'm sure he'll make a name for himself in the Big Sky.

not sure about the first part but definitely agree with your second statement.

not sure what to think. I mean it was a few short years ago he's one of the best backs in all of California and signs a LOI with florida. also was offered by schools like penn state and I think Arkansas too. he was a 4 star recruit which is amazing.

that said...i'd be curious how he went from al that to playing at marshall and eventually being moved to defense?

I think he has the makeup to dominate the big sky though

Van sounds like a classic case of rushing someone along too fast. Marshall stuck him in there against West Virginia as the No. 2 back in the first game of his true freshman year and they didn't really back off. He only had one yard on 10 carries against West Virginia. He had some solid games later in the year, but was up and down. His soph year he was set to be the feature back, but had another tough game against WVU in the opener. Played decent the second game, but had another tough outing vs. Ohio and doesn't show up in the boxscore after that. By the end of the year Marshall had run four other RBs out there and all four ended up with significantly better ypc than Van.

Again, it sounds like it was a case of too much, too early. He got knocked around and demoralized, then other players stepped in and outperformed him.

Jordan Canada had 7 yards on three carries and Van had 7 on one tackle-breaking carry for a TD. Counts, who is more a Dan Moore-type, had 29 yards on 7 carries. Not much to go on there. Their scrimmage played out similar to ours in that the pass game did well, but the run game was basically stuffed by the defense. Both kick games even stunk it up. (Perez did come back the next day and hit 11 of 11 for MSU though)

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Yeah I am a big excuse guy, I usually come over here and start INDIVIDUAL threads about why we lost, it sure as hell wasnt because we were not the better team every week, you would have to be a fool to think that. I have never been a stand up guy that admits when there are things wrong with our program and I always agree with the most knowledgeable fan base in the history of football. I also never congratulate the other team and am usually a pretty big douchebag about it.

There, my secret is out...............this must be how you feel when your gay?

Its your fault I made this post.

See how easy that was.

well how could we not be afraid?! jj is good for at least 5 more wins this year. griz easily get way better and finish with 10 or 11 wins. and for some reason...cats are weaker, ewu is weaker, nau is weaker....

at least that's what I've read on egriz. griz get way better because that's just how things go and everyone else is sure to be worse cause that's just how things go.

What's your prediction for the Griz football team in 2013?
If the Griz stay marginally healthy and JJ plays then my prediction is:

If we win the App St game (we will) UM will go 11-1 with the sole loss coming from Sac St or Cow Polo.

If we lost the App St game (we wont) Griz will go 9-3 losing to Sac St, and NAU.

None of the other games will be that close because nobody can stop our offense except maybe NDSU.......who will win it all again this year if they stay healthy.

If JJ gets hurt we wont win 3 games this year.........hes worth 6 to 8 wins ya know.

:coffee:
So when I cut through all the safety nets you think um goes 11-1. That would be impressive. There are 5-6 teams in the hunt and you play all of them, appy, and your old coach on the road. Do that and it'll shut a lot of people up.

Teams doing well still get nervous when um rolls into town or they go to WGS. Teams not doing well get up for the grizz. That's respect. But I like hawks spin on it. \:D/
