If so, I find it odd that people were all cool with FVV when he was barking at the DOJ (he still isn't cooperating with them), but when he sent JJ to trial he became the bad guy (even though he isn't cooperating with DOJ still).
I guess I'm not sure I understand what one has to do with the other.

I thought FVV was correct to question the DOJ's authority to come in and investigate his office, and I gave kudos to him (here and elsewhere on the interwebs) for doing so. That doesn't mean I have to agree with everything else he does for the rest of his life, does it?
Simple.

The former was FVV standing up for UM against the evil, corrupt meanies, and the latter was FVV becoming one of the evil, corrupt meanies and trying to ruin UM.

You'd think Johnson would want this to go away quickly, rather than have his lawyers continue to argue the case after the verdict.

Then again, my opinion of defense lawyers is rather low, so I'm guessing Johnson probably isn't thrilled about the articles and boasting, but how can you stop a lawyer trying to drum up interest and potential clients?

Hell, Paioli may end up with a CNN guest legal expert gig when the next athlete/rape accusation case comes up. Even better for him, perhaps another client.
Those damn pesky defenders of the Constitution! Why can't we just implement the gulag system that works so well in North Korea?

What you wrote has literally nothing to do with what I posted.

I'm not sure Johnson wants it to go away. One clue that someone is lying is that they don't go on the offensive when confronted about something they didn't do, so actually he is probably wanting to talk about it more. So far Johnson has either let his lawyers do the talking or has been rehearsing with them. His lawyers seem adamant about his innocence, but I'd think now that the trial is over he'd want to get it all out there. He doesn't have to be brash about it, just speak from the heart like he appeared to do at his trial.

His lawyers are definitely trying to drum up business. This is a great professional opportunity for them and after all this is America. It would be hard to just let it pass by and I think they probably feel like they need to force the issue considering the Missoulian isn't apt to come to them for a post-trial story.

Another sign that someone is being disingenuous is when they try to make you think they're something they're actually not. Saying something like, "...to be honest I don't know" when actually they do. I keep thinking that every time Pflugrad and Paoli said Johnson is a guy of high character. Another one is not using contractions. Bill Clinton's infamous, "...I did not have sexual relations..." stands out there.
